Comrades In the past I had defended the president of ANC YL on his statements and indeed I still hold a view that most the statements that he was attacked for were in fact correct, even though we quoted out of context. This could have been of him being reckless in articulating his position; however recklessness is a problem for a person who can be viewed as a national figure. I'm saying this because there's a development of a particular trend; of which I'm not quite sure if that is sparked by an overwhelmingly support that he enjoys from us.
I remember vividly when comrade Zola a member of NEC reprimanded comrade Pres Malima; and he (Malima) correctly responded and said "Cde Zola was sitting behind me at the NEC meeting and he did not raised these issues with me, and I find it strange that he choose to attack me on media". He further said "Cde Zola should know that the culture of the ANC leadership is to first address issues within correct structures"; now this informs me that comrade President knew on how to address such issues, particularly with such a senior member of the ANC; without saying any other person should be addressed without respect. Over and above what really concerns me the "apology letter" that he alleged sent to Cde Naledi; paints a picture that it was a statement made collectively by the ANC YL NEC of which I strongly disagree. This to me shows that comrade President has no remorse but apologises either he was under pressure or instructed to do so. This again it does not exonerate our glorious movement particularly the ANC YL from a questionable position of upholding values. I think to remove comrade President from his position as many has suggested does not resolved the problem, nor does it aligned with the constitution of the organisation but it will merely deal with symptoms. I would have encouraged a public statement by the ANC YL to distance its self from such utterances and strongly condemn such acts by the president. If ANC YL NEC feel it fits it can initiate disciplinary actions against our ANC YL president. Clearly its us the members who are doing door to door campaigns and addressing meetings and so on who have to now account for such actions. This might open loop holes for counter revolutionary formations such as Congress of the Poisonous Elites (COPE) and later on they will be joined by members of their choir such as ID, DA, UDM, IFP and rest to sing a chorus of relegating the entire tripartite alliance to a bunch of cronies who have no values.
