Comrade, national security is most certainly not a-political.
Do you think that the USA dropping bombs on the FARC in Colombia or
blowing up kids in Iraq is a-political in the name of national
security?
We cannot view anything that the state organises as being a-political
because we have to remember the reason for the existence of the state
regardless of who put who where. The state that the ANC government
holds power over is a capitalist state and acts in accordance with the
defence of the capitalist system of which you have already admitted
“Remember that govt has a responsibility to uphold the law and secure
its citizen.” The law in SA fully defends the ‘right’ of the
capitalist to exploit, how many years in jail does the average manager
of a mine get in jail if he doesn’t promote proper health and safety?
Exactly none to be precise. How many years does a father of 3 kids get
if he steals some overpriced bread from Shoprite?
“simple paths can we use without recreating a black-by-black
violence”. Look at the police brutality at the majority of strikes. We
must come to terms with the fact that there is a black (if you really
feel the need to avoid a discussion of class) government in power and
it is maintaining policies to the detriment of the poor black people
of this country. Kids suffering from malnutrition because of the
failure or capitalism is violence. A black capitalist is no less
destructive then a white one.
there will come a point in south africa where in order for capitalism
to maintain power it will have to follow violant means, what side of
the line will you be on then the side defending 'national security' or
the side of the working class, fighting for true emancipation from the
shackles of capitalism.
