Unfortunately i don’t see the cookie as crumbling. I think it just was
left in the oven too long and its dried out.....and some people like
burnt biscuits.
COPE was formed out of a conflict within the ANC. Although this was a
conflict of ideology, it was fought through personalities. As a result
cope couldn’t cope with the infighting and many have left such as
Allan Boesak and those who did no get the leadership positionthey
wanted
However there are a very large number of wealthy mainly black business
people who would like to see cope succeed and there is a lot of money
to make it happen. SA always has had space for a third major party and
i don’t see a problem with that. If the ANC can’t take advantage of
its new found direction and popularism post-polkwane then not only
will it show a failure of us too address change but will also drive
voters away. The ANC is the largest party and is also the strongest
and most organised. But for the DA and COPE to get votes all they have
to do is sit back and wait for a scandal or mistake by the ANC and let
the newspapers do the talking.
Lets fight for a left ANC national newspaper and fight to end the
COnfusion of our PEople.
