One must first welcome the sincere statement by the president. It is a
progressive addition to a seemingly disoriented debate.

Cde. Funky, your response below carries within it everything that is wrong with
how we have conducted this discussion. As to whether or not the motives for
this story to be broken are malicious or benevolent, is no less important than
the allegations . In doing so, one must not loose sight of the merits attached
to the allegation.
Conversely, one cannot allow our leader to be charged, trialled and convicted
in the media. However in responding one cannot position a revolutionary
organisation as if it were a prison gang. Gangs are characterised by a moral
code that seeks to defend "their own" at all costs and destroy all others.
"Either you are with us or against us". Such a characterisation dangerously
leads to the kind of thugarish analyses that concludes that communists and
white capitalist media have "ganged" up against "them".

It for this reason why we question who is this "us" cde president often
refers. I assure you that the "us"in question when reference is made to Moraga
or Gama does not include the rural and working poor.

        PROVINCE ON THE VICIOUS ATTACK

Vincent

What does this mean

"What is most worrying about the ANCYL GP leadership is that instead
of
responsing to the facts as they relat to the reports regarding the
ANCYL
president 's personal wealth status & how he has allegedly gained
that"

So today you call media reports "facts". what is the intention...Why?

Now i fully agree with Cde Tom, just for what you said, i now strongly
believe that the ANCYL President must be defended from lunatics, either
from SACP, YCL Forum or anywhere. Provincial Secretary of Gauteng is
therefore correct.

What is most worrying about the ANCYL GP leadership is that instead of
responsing to the facts as they relat to the reports regarding the
ANCYL
president 's personal wealth status & how he has allegedly gained that,
the
leadership decides to bunch below the belt anf shoots off the target.

Firstly, it is not the duty of the media to audit the lifestyle of
politicians, neither has COSATU proposed that lifestyle audits should
be
condected in the manner in which the media is running with it, but due
to
the beauty of our constitution on media freedoms, i guess the media is
only
acting as they wish in order to sell papers and we all know who sells
the
most.

The defence of the president of the ANCYL against sensational &
potentially
damaging reporing is something that no one will differ with in
principle
within the circles of the ANCYL in the province, however, the
degeneration
of a "defence" what the provincial leadership is currently raising
pointed
to towards the alliance is very unfortunate and it sounds highly
sychopphant
in nature.

But then we must comrades allow for a space to exist for debates and
engagements.
