As the ANC we need to becareful of the Media, The tour to Venezuala was made public while the President was in Zimbabwe. The media is by all means trying to relate the trip with the resolution by the ANC to call Cde Julius to the DC. Cdes if we are not careful we' ve got a lot loose. Those who have watch the news on etv and SABC yesterday (20th of April 2010) at 19h00 and 19h30 respectively should have seen the kind of reporting the e tv is doing, where they showed a clip of Cde Thandi Modise, it was distorted as if comrade Thandi differs with the ANC and the ETV didn't show Comrade Jackson Mthembu who was sitting in the far left of the table, the clip showed Cde Thandi sitting among the leaders of the YL. Until the SABC 19H30 news where a longer clip was played one could get and one could fully understand what was said in the meeting. Without attacking the media we need to engage them on the way they report, they can't continue feeding the public distorted information. We need to engage specifically SANEF because its their members who allow these things to happen. The media should stop abusing their freedom of expression. It is with absolute disgust that the headline reads of a "surprise trip" by the ANCYL to Venezuela. The ANCYL has planned study tours as part of its process to advance the Nationalisation of Mines, this includes the study tour to Venezuela. Such discussions and plans have been made public for comment and engagement with the ANCYL, since its Legotla that took place in January 2010. The study tour to Venezuela forms part of a series of study tours. A delegation has recently returned from Zimbabwe were a series of programmes aimed at gaining an intimate understanding of Nationalisation of the various sectors of the economy were undertaken. The ANCYL is disgusted that foreign owned newspapers continue to misrepresent the efforts made by the ANCYL in advancing the interests of the of the developmental struggle. The ANCYL calls for such unethical journalism and lies to stop.
