*Mpumalanga SACP Media Statement* *Released on the 28th of March 2010*
* * The Mpumalanga SACP Provincial Executive Committee held its ordinary meeting on the 27th of March 2011 at Emalahleni [SACP Provincial Office]. We noted with shock, a clearly planned smearing campaign against our General Secretary Cde Blade Nzimande as in the Sunday media [especially Sunday Independent] trying to portray him as a man under siege, very unpopular in the congress movement, knives are out for him, especially in the SACP structures. We should state it that the article in the Sunday Independent is painting a false picture of a fragmented SACP, which is factionalized and dying. As the Mpumalanga PEC, we are convinced that the SACP is stronger than before and more united, dealing with contentious issues that are to benefit the working class and the poor in South Africa; thanks to the leadership collective led by Comrade Blade Nzimande. It is us the structures of the SACP that elected him to be our leader, as much as it is again our structures that deployed him, with other cadres, to serve in a progressive revolutionary government led by President Zuma. Those who think, they may collude with some journalist, trying to launch their campaign, sent by their bourgeois masters to weaken the SACP, are really living in a false paradise. We also observed that these forces of darkness, who are displaying a high level of political immaturity and malnutrition, dream of divisions between the SACP and COSATU. COSATU and the SACP are the only serious forces for socialism in South Africa, their unity is above personalities - its ideological, members of both organizations understand that perfectly. There are some leaders in the recent past who thought they were more popular than the project of socialism, they all disappeared into political oblivion of COPE. We further wish to congratulate the ANC, for being able to run successful processes of nominations for Local Government elections candidates. We believe, despite some minor challenges caused by lumpens, it really was a democratic, transparent process. Communities were for the first time in history involved in the process to have a say in selecting their councilors. We wish to congratulate the people of Swaziland for their recent successful march, which pulled thousands to the streets. That indicated the frustrations of the masses, being tired of dictatorship by a semi-feudal regime that looks after its interest, condemning the people into perpetual poverty. We further pledge our continued support to their struggle for democracy in Swaziland. Whilst we sympathise with the people of Libya in their struggle for democracy, we are but condemning the imperialist tendencies of the Western forces. It is clear that, those forces are now using the United Nations resolution 1973 to push for regime change in that country.
