*23 June 2011* We have learnt with great sadness the passing away of ANC veteran comrade Kader Asmal. We are greatly saddened by the untimely death of one of the most determined intellectuals ever produced by the liberation movement. We have not always agreed with the views espoused by comrade Asmal. The merger of Universities is a case in point. This dialectic of unity and struggle has always been the hallmark that has united cadres of the liberation movement in the pursuit of the struggle.
