*COSATU NW to hold a political workshop*


The Congress of South Africa Trade Unions and its 20 affiliates in the North
West will be holding a political workshop from 26th-27th July 2011 at the
Raaswater conference centre in the area of Potchefstroom. ****


This workshop comes as a call from the members and shop stewards of COSATU
that COSATU must dedicate time and assess the political environment in the
North West and also assess the contribution of the North West province in
advancing the national democratic revolution.****


The workshop will in particularly asses the state of politics in the
province given the developments since the ANC Sun City conference in 2008 up
to date.****


The workshop will assess the outcome of the 2011 local government election
and the deployment of mayors and municipal executives in relation to the
service delivery challenges in the province.****


The workshop will also look in detail into the state of service delivery and
the current service delivery protests in the province. ****


The workshop will receive inputs from the general secretary of COSATU,
comrade Zwelinzima Vavi, and the general secretary of NUMSA, comrade Irvin
Jim.****


The workshop will develop a program of action on campaigns against poor
service delivery, labour brokers, living wage, corruption and health and
safety.****


The workshop will be held as follows ****
