*ANC denounces attempts to tarnish the image of the ANC-led provincial
government *

The ANC in Limpopo rejects the reports in the *City Press* (24 July 2011
edition) that business people are awarded government tenders in exchange for
financial support to the ANCYL President, Julius Malema.

Like any sphere of government in South Africa, the ANC-led Limpopo
government awards tenders according to the South African rules and
regulations. And if there is any deviation from the government laws, such
practices are penalized accordingly regardless of who is involved.

We therefore call on all anonymous media sources and faceless business
people to report cases of corruption to the relevant authorities. Failure to
do so will just validate our suspicision that peddling of these allegations
against the ANC-led provincial government has become a political strategy to
tarnish the ANC government and its leaders through baseless allegations.

We also call on our ANC members to desist from making unsubstantiated public
statements that insinuate that our ANC-led government and leaders are
corrupt. If indeed there is credence in their public statements, like all
South Africans, ANC members should bring these allegations to the attention
of our institutions responsible for dealing with corruption.
