*YCL Support BNF *

The Young communist League of South Africa [uFasimba] notes the on going
media uproar which was caused by the media interview between the National
Secretary of the YCLSA Comrade Buti Manamela and Ukhozi FM, where the
National Secretary supported the Botswana National Front, which is the
opposition Party in Botswana.

To avoid distortions of our position on Botswana, which should not be
clouded by the current political moment, the YCL wants to firstly put it
categorically clear that we are the Youth wing of the South African
Communist Party. Our Party has long historic relations with BNF which are
shaped by fraternal and mutual respect of each other’s views and political
actions.

On the 9th of August 2011 the SACP and BNF agreed that they ‘share common
yet different political experiences in struggles aimed at overcoming the
deep-seated social, political and economic challenges in their respective
countries.

In recognition of this fact, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to
continuously exchange experiences on tackling the legacy of colonial past
and to take up joint campaigns against contemporary challenges posed by the
persistence of semi-colonial economic structures and the neo-liberal
reorganisation of national economies, and to promote the culture of
democracy and human rights, and to contribute to regional and international
peace.

In that Bilateral the South African Communist Party mandated the Young
Communist League of South Africa to continue with programmatic relations
with the Botswana National front Youth League, the forthcoming National
Committee of YCLSA will develop a program in this regard. It was in this
context that the National Secretary supported the BNF in the interview.

To put it on record YCLSA will continue to work with various progressive
organisations over the world namely; Botswana National Front Youth League,
Mozambique Frelimo Youth, Zambia, Tanzania Chama Chama Mapinduza Youth
League, Sweden Swedish Left Party (Youth) Portugal Young Communist League of
Portugal (JCP), China Communist Youth League of China, France Movement of
Young Communist (MJC), Italy Italian Communist Party (Youth League), Britain
(UK) Young Communist League (Britain) Greece KNE, Western Sahara UJISARIO,
Palestine, Cuba Union of Young Communists, Swaziland Swaziland Youth
Congress and many other progressive forces in the world.

As the YCL we shall continue to campaign for the release of the Cuban five,
against the killing of people of Libya by NATO, for democracy in Zimbabwe
and Swaziland. We shall continue to support all progressive forces
throughout the world; we plead our solidarity with people of Somali. To us
the crisis in any part of the world is a crisis almost everywhere. A better
world is possible
