Cdes some of us we will engage this matter in Party constitutional platforms.
But the most fundamental question is whether is SACP should vanguard or
rearguard Party. In our 2012 National Congress part of the report will be from
the Politburo Deployment and Accountability Committee, which will indicate the
lesson drawn and challenges to implement the MTV.

Subject: Re: [YCLSA Discussion] Today's communist party is not a class act

Cdes

Lets not be petty and lose focus, we appreciate enlightenment by Cde VC
about who is Martin Jansen. We are not going to learn only from fellow
communists but also from our opponents, that is the only way to become a
genuine revolutionary. I want us to purify this debate by leaving name
calling aside & entertain what Martins has raised. There are questions that
need to be answered so that clarity can be provided & if Martins is wrong it
be painted as such with facts & principles.

Firstly, Martin said that can the SACP claim to be a vanguard party of the
working class, a party that is interested in power to advance the interests
of the workers and the poor?

Is its privileged historical position at the helm of the working class & its
largest formation,Casatu, togethr with its theory of NDR, the political
basis of working class setbacks over the past 20 years?

Has the SACP failed to put the class struggle back on the agenda? the class
character of the ANC government and the nature of the state in SA.

Whose class interests the ANC & its Govt represent?

ANC has used political power & leverage over the state & public resources to
elevate a small section of black petty bourgeosie to the ranks of the big
capitalists. That is how white capital bought its political security. The
interests of the new black bourgeisie are tied up with those of white
monopoly capital & the capitalist state, He claims!

The SACP leaders in Govt have often been the most vociferous defenders of
neoliberal policies. The latest example is deputy transport minister Jeremy
Cronin defending the Gauteng toll-road system.

''As Lenin pointed out nearly a century ago, the bourgeois state transforms
those who work within it, not the other way round. We need to "smash the
bourgeois state", he said, and replace it with organs of working-class
power. Ironically, the SACP's "Marxist-Leninist" leaders are now fighting a
battle to their left to maintain their privileged positions in the ANC
government''.

''So Carrim, Martins, Nzimande, Cronin, Gwede Mantashe and the entire SACP
membership need to ask more serious questions about their party. Average
working-class living standards are worse now than under apartheid, with
nearly 70% of black people living in poverty, nearly 50% unemployed, and
South Africa is the most unequal society in the world''.

''The SACP produces socialist rhetoric but does little to distinguish it
from the bourgeois ANC. For all Nzimande's criticism of corruption and
tenderpreneurship, what have he and the SACP done to challenge it? In fact,
the SACP leadership supports Jacob Zuma for another presidential term, a man
who epitomises the plundering of state resources''.

So Cdes can we honestly engage the claims of Martin together with
socio-economic facts he raised about SA conditions post 1994. We owe it to
ourselves to robustly interrogate these issues in a bid to sharpen ourselves
to become genuine agents of revolution as envisaged & carried by Marx,
Lenin, Hani, Cde VC as a trusted maxist-leninist scholar perhaps you need to
lead & provide with clarity, because whether Martin is communist or not some
of his submissions make sense to us.
