Anti-Cuban wool pulled in our eyes must be unravelled now! The CUBAN Five Release Campaign has entered almost its 13th Anniversary since the malodorous incarceration of Gerardo Hernández, René González, Fernando González, Antonio Guerrero, and Ramón Labañino in US gaols for unexplained charges, with severe conditions attached to them. The US government in the process has actually broken the ‘Guinness Records’ on many years of economic blockade amounting to almost eight hundred US Dollars in damages. And the Cuban Five distortions by US has painted untruth amongst many nations that CUBA is a threat to world peace, yet US has unleashed many genocides against citizens of the world in Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and recently in Libya. Also the imperialist media has always distorted the truth to serve a particular agenda, sowing misinformation that the CUBAN Five were arrested for spying. Perhaps,US is angry because CUBA is assisting many countries on many humanitarian grounds such as on medicine, education etc at no charge! The International Community has eloquently called for their release but the US has reneged on honouring the calling. Without any shadow of doubt, this clearly displays the blasphemous and superlative degree of disrespect for International Conventions and/or Declarations by Imperialist such as Obama-led US government. And such unsound and unintelligible disposition displays the ignorance on advocacy messaging on social justice, and a civilised society like US is claiming to be adhering to such imperatives. US is the only country in the world where prohibition of visits to CUBA are enforced, and this is unpalatable to sound international neighbourhoodness and also attainment of a spirit of closing up the world into a ‘peaceful global village’, with zero tolerance to exploitation of workers for profits. Why is that happening? It is because ‘they’ are afraid that citizens could learn first-hand information about CUBAN realities. Neo-Political politics have caused many social disadvantages in the world and perhaps time is now to challenge the status quo! And South Africa must be counted in this struggle for a world with no hardships meted against humanity! The election of President Obama was hailed as another changing moment for the world..did it last to unblock the suffering of the CUBAN Five? No! And this illustrate that Obama is just an individual and imperialist politics is rife in the US system, which was inherited by the ‘we demand change man’. The blockade remains unchanged! The CUBAN Five issue remain unresolved! The Anti-CUBAN hatred remains rife! Things must indeed change now.. We demand the unconditional release of the CUBAN Five!
