*CWU ON SAPO DEVELOPMENTS* * *
*13/10/2011* The Communication Workers Union (CWU) has learned on 12 October 2011 that the South African Post Office (Sapo) Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ms Lefoka Motshoenetsi has been suspended and Chief Operation Officer (COO), John Wentzel has resigned. These developments happened after CWU has in the recent past (sixteen months ago) lodged a complaint with the Sapo Board members and the office of the Public Protector for an alleged corruption and looting of public resources that has left workers in the doom and Labour brokers taking a centre stage in the company. As CWU, we welcome these developments. We urge the Public Protector to expeditiously deal with her investigations into this matter as per our request, and release the report into the public domain as a matter of extreme urgency to expose those who were involved in this game of looting public resources at the expense of the poorest of the poor and the working class. AS CWU, we are gravely concern about the delaying tactics from the office of the Public Protector in finalising the report and recommendations in this regard. Our organisation will persistently enquire regarding this report as we believe that none of the two senior executives should be allowed to go scot free. *Contact:* * * *Matankana Mothapo, National Spokesperson - 0827590900 * -- You are subscribed.
