Declaration of the PYA Limpopo summit

We, PYA delegates in Limpopo convened at UNISA Polokwane campus, on the 19th
April 2012 hereby discussed all issues presented before us both as internal
structures of the PYA and the movement in general. We declare our satisfaction
that the objective of the summit, which was discussing and finding sustainable
solutions on issues affecting young people, has been achieved.

As the PYA in the province we are proud of certain key victories registered
under difficult conditions. We were the first to resolve on free male
circumcision and also on free sanitary towels. As we speak these resolutions
are policies of the central government of South Africa.
The summit noted the absence of ANCYL in the PYA since 2010. In this regard the
PYA resolved not to support the leadership of Mr Jacob Lebogo in the upcoming
ANCYL provincial conference, because since coming into office fraudulently in
2010 they never prioritised youth development instead they prioritised parties!

The leadership of the ANCYL (both at provincial and national level) cannot be
expected to convene the PYA when they are daily undermining and ridiculing the
constitution of the ANC. It is therefore necessary for the ANC NEC to disband
the ANCYL NEC and save the movement from further embarrassment!

Similarly, the ANC PEC in Limpopo cannot be expected to convene the
revolutionary Alliance because the PEC was elected fraudulently, and we also
call for the immediate disbandment of this fraudulent PEC.

We also demand the recalling of the premier and the entire cabinet for failing
the millions of our people in Limpopo. It simply makes no sense for a premier
who collapsed government to stay in the same position; in fact it is an insult
to the people of Limpopo! We furthermore demand an end to the tenderisation of
the state because we know that majority of services that are outsourced can
better be delivered through co-operatives and capacitation of the state!

With regard to the SRC elections the PYA resolved to contest elections only
through SASCO. We furthermore condemn the unfair suspension of student leaders
in campuses particularly in Turfloop university.

To accelerate youth development it is also important that NYDA must be properly
constituted by the PYA as a whole. We furthermore demand the immediate
resignation of the NYDA Provincial Advisory Board led by Mr Moswane simply
because the NYDA in Limpopo does not have programmes. We also demand forensic
investigation into the financial affairs of NYDA because it is our firm belief
that it was used to enrich few individuals at the expense of the youth of
Limpopo.

As the youth of Limpopo we further demand the creation of jobs, reduction of
inequality and combating of diseases in particular HIV/AIDS. We furthermore
support the clarion call by COSATU to scrap labour broking and e-tolling
because these terrible twins rob our people of their hard earned money. We also
call upon Polokwane Municipality to scrap the newly introduced pay-as-you-park
system in Polokwane because we are of the conviction that it is geared towards
milking our people dry! Lastly, we demand free quality education!
