YCLSA Gert Sibande Statement on Successfully SACP Gert Sibande 4th District Congress 23 April 2012 The Young Communist League of South Africa [Ufasimba] in the District of Gert Sibande wishes to applaud its South African Communist Party (SACP) for convening the successful 4th District Congress over the weekend of 21-22 April ,Cassim Park, Ermelo. The theme of Congress of “Consolidating Left Forces, Paving the Way for Socialism” was clearly evident through the spirit speakers from fraternal structures and delegates contributed in developing a programme of action that gives effect to this dictum and to further advance the Medium Term Vision (MTV). The input delivered by the YCLSA District Secretary affirmed that young communists have been an omnipresent feature in the CPSA and SACP. Young communists like Sydney Bunting lead the building of the CPSA until its banning in 1950. Young communists like Cde Moses Mabhida were part of the leadership nucleus which guided the activities of SACP operating underground. In the 1970’s young communists like Cde Jabulani “Mzala” Nxumalo left all they knew behind and swelled the ranks of Umkhonto we Sizwe and thus making the greatest sacrifice possible in a revolution. With the near simultaneous collapse of the Soviet Union and unbanning of the SACP, with older members of the SACP vacillating and questioning whether “Socialism has failed” young communist like the District's own late Cde Bomber Ntshangase were on the ground rebuilding the SACP. Even with the re-launch of the YCLSA in 2003, young communist like the late SACP Mpumalanga Provincial Secretary at the age of 28 ,Cde Juda Tsotetsi, continued to shoulder the red hammer and sickle while many choose the path paved with assured riches. the YCLSA and its members took it upon themselves to form part of all the processes leading up to the 4th SACP Gert Sibande Congress. YCLSA members in their capacity as secretaries and chairpersons of branches and as YCLSA delegates were at the forefront of leading political and organisational debate in congress. Congress analysed the objective and subjective challenges facing the working class and its organisations. A critical appraisal of progress made by the DEC and branches in implementing 3rd Congress resolutions was conducted. Importantly, congress adopted a programme of action that will seek to unite the SACP and other left forces in order to tilt the balance of class forces in favour of the working class in Gert Sibande and further advance the MTV. The YCLSA wishes to reiterate the call that it will not rest until the assassins of Cde Bomber Ntshangase are brought to book. Cde Ntshangase is a martyr of the struggle against corruption, to whom we aspire to. We will continue, two years after start of the case, to petition the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) to fast track the prosecution of the suspects who have already been charged with this heinous crime. The YCLSA wishes to applaud congress for recognising the role played by the leadership collective of the 3rd District Congress in building the Party and further resolving to re-electing all the officials uncontested to lead the 4th District Congress District Executive Committee (DEC). The YCLSA wishes to extend a special congratulatory message to its National Committee member, Cde Nhlakanipho Zuma, who has again been entrusted with the responsibility of leading this vast District of Gert Sibande as its Secretary. The YCLSA wishes its current Deputy Chairperson, Cde Nomthandazo Karube, well with her new responsibilities as a member of the DEC. The YCLSA pledges its unwavering commitment and support to the 4th Congress DEC as it continues its work of building a united, independent and revolutionary SACP.
