It is true cde Gugu we no longer have an organization here we have some
kind of gangsterism. The question is how did we get to this phase of
thuggery? What were some of the fault lines within the ANC and its league
that contributed to the decay and paralysis of logic and principle?

If one had energy one would probably write a lengthy book on the subject.
In recent times the league has been under the influence of crude political
hyenas with no consideration of their actions to the organization and what
the organization represents to the masses of our people. But what always
remains crucial is for to resist the temptation of wanting to contextualize
the decay outside the broader ANC political dynamics. In this regard the
hegemonic cohesion of the ANC has been dependent on who leads it. And on
cases wherein we felt a new agenda was sprouting out we contextualized it
and gave it a name…i.e. the 1996 class project, tenderpreneurs, new
tendency, hyenas etc.

We characterized these groupings becoz we felt they represented what
differed to what our strategic objective and principled values of our
organization stipulated. But we always lived with these somewhat new
tendencies…politically we had never decisively confronted them
head-on...i.e. people chucked-out due to their unbecoming tendencies. We
have accepted these as differences which merely needed to be managed and we
pride ourselves as managers of contradictions in our ever broader church
and little did we acknowledge that such acceptance would later lead
to in-roads towards a real decay.

This acceptance of new and somewhat foreign tendencies was amplified after
Mbalula’s Term as president and when we were supporting JZ to be president
of the ANC. I can still recall when ANCYL delegates were showing us their
naked asses when they were supposed to be dealing with conference matters…I
do not have to say a lot about Polokwane as I think it is still fresh in
our minds.

The very senior leaders who are condemning the thuggery in Juju and company
were silent when the very same culprits were dissing TM and company.
Fortunately I personally supported the move to change was appeared to be a
stubborn TM, but I was always amazed at silence of the ANC in what was
completely ill-discipline manner of engaging our president. May be one may
differ if I were to say we made these thugs {Ok Cassel made us these thugs}
but we endorsed them.

In thuggerish conditions what matters is the ‘end’, there is little or no
consideration of the ‘means’ and the implication of the process. Hence to
them it does not matter whether they fundamentally contradict themselves
several times on several positions, what matters is that they invoke
sympathy of their supporters who either lack foresight or too hungry to see
obvious deception.

In attempting to deal with tendency we must agree that it was never limited
to Juju and company but it is an organization issue which warrant an RDP
{Reconstruction and Development Programme} of the soul.
