*SACP North-West PEC Media Statement, 8 May 2012* *Special Provincial Executive Committee Meeting*The SACP in the North West held a successful Special Provincial Executive Committee meeting on Sunday 06 April 2012 to prepare for the National Congress of the SACP that is scheduled to take place during July. The meeting received a comprehensive report on the state of the organisation both nationally and provincially. The SACP in the North West is upbeat that the SACP is the second largest political party in the country second to our ally the African National Congress.
We further pride our self that the SACP is the only political party that is united and cohesive. This was demonstrated during the provincial congresses held throughout the country and other activities organised under the banner of the South African Communist Party.
The SACP in the North West further commit itself to the continued unity in action working together with our alliance partners the African National Congress and the Congress Of South African Trade Unions against the triplets of poverty, inequality and unemployment.
The SACP in the North West have during the Joe Slovo and Chris Hani months (January and April) respectively conducted memorial lectures in J.B Marks, Bophirima and Lillian Ngoyi in remembrance of these giants of our revolution. These memorial lectures were preceded by interaction with members of communities in the areas that were visited by the provincial leadership of the SACP. We will during the month of May remember our own Moses Kotane in his home of Phela village.
The door to door visits conducted confirmed that much still needs to be done in particular in the areas of Qho village in Taung and Moshaneng in Zeerust. The PEC directed that the door to door by the SACP must be different from the others. It is within this understanding that the SACP will be going back to these areas to deliver the necessary services in collaboration with the relevant departments ie. Home affairs, Social Development, Education, Human Settlement and Health.
However the PEC notes that these challenges that were identified cannot be overcome without a well oiled machine in the provincial administration. It is within this understanding that we call upon the North West provincial government to fill all the vacant posts since the current situation which is not stable have a negative impact towards the delivery of quality services to our people.
The PEC notes with concern the state of municipalities in the province which has deteriorated to the lowest ebb. We call upon the provincial government to put in place urgent measures to intervene. The PEC further expressed its concern that the Premier has during the reshuffle of members of the executive committee deployed the current Deputy Chairperson of the African National Congress in the province Cde China Dudovu to the portfolio of the local government and traditional affairs. Our concern is based on the fact that Cde China resigned as the executive mayor of Matlosana under a cloud with allegations levelled against him.
The PEC further reiterates the fact that the quality of life of our people cannot be realised where there is corruption. The SACP has in the past called on the review of the current tender system since it is inherently corrupt a model. To this end we call upon members of the North West society to join the SACP in the fight against corruption in the government and report such activities to the relevant authorities. We further call on the government to hasten the cases against corruption in the province so that they are resolved within reasonable time.
The SACP notes with concern the current state of affairs within its ally, the ANC especially during centenary celebrations by the ANC. We therefore call upon all members of the SACP who are members of the ANC to rise above and provide the required leadership in the structures of our beloved ANC and not to find themselves entangled in the interests of one faction or the other since that has nothing to do with road to socialism.
The PEC will meet with the leadership of the ANC in the province to receive a comprehensive report on the state of affairs to get a deeper understanding of the crisis facing the ANC in the province rather than relying on the media and other sources that might not be reliable.
