FAWU Press Statement, 5 November 2013

Settlement Agreement with SAB

The Food and Allied Workers Union (FAWU) has entered into an agreement with
the South African Breweries (SAB) on dispute issues of wages, working
conditions and benefits at midnight on the 4th November 2013.

The wage increment will be at 7% and the following issues will be dealt with
at the separate top-to-top meeting of the National Office Bearers of FAWU
and Board of Directors of the SAB:

. Democratization of and participation in the Board of Trustees of
the Provident Fund and Medical Scheme

. The disability cover to 100%

. Review of Performance Regulated Pay

. Establishment of Beverage Bargaining Council

FAWU hereby congratulate its members for mounting a strike action in the
face of skepticism by management that they are not capable of striking since
the last strike in 1997. Also, we congratulate them for show of unity and
discipline throughout the strike, including on allowing or tolerating those
who returned to work or joined later as the strike was proceeding.

We hope that SAB management will realize the importance of handling workers'
demands with the necessary sensitivity and seriousness.

For more information kindly contact Katishi Masemola, General Secretary, at

General Secretary
