FAWU Press Statement, 5 November 2013 Settlement Agreement with SAB The Food and Allied Workers Union (FAWU) has entered into an agreement with the South African Breweries (SAB) on dispute issues of wages, working conditions and benefits at midnight on the 4th November 2013. The wage increment will be at 7% and the following issues will be dealt with at the separate top-to-top meeting of the National Office Bearers of FAWU and Board of Directors of the SAB: . Democratization of and participation in the Board of Trustees of the Provident Fund and Medical Scheme . The disability cover to 100% . Review of Performance Regulated Pay . Establishment of Beverage Bargaining Council FAWU hereby congratulate its members for mounting a strike action in the face of skepticism by management that they are not capable of striking since the last strike in 1997. Also, we congratulate them for show of unity and discipline throughout the strike, including on allowing or tolerating those who returned to work or joined later as the strike was proceeding. We hope that SAB management will realize the importance of handling workers' demands with the necessary sensitivity and seriousness.
