We salute him for his continued commitment in the service of the people of South Africa, Africa and the World at large. President Zuma has devoted his life to the liberation of the people of South Africa, joining the struggle whilst still in his teens. As the ANC and the people of South Africa, we remain grateful to stalwarts like Comrade Zuma; it is because of their sacrifices and those of many other committed men and women that we were able to throw off the yoke of apartheid repression. Their names will be inscribed in the chronicles of history and etched into the minds of all South Africans who both remember the horrors of apartheid and continue to live with its legacy. The ANC maintains that the realization of a united, non-racial, non-sexist, democratic and prosperous South Africa requires that we build on this selfless legacy and unapologetically continue to lead our people along the path towards economic, political and social transformation; ably led by President Zuma and his collective.
