COSATU Supports the Oakbay Employees' Protest March against the Banks

The Congress of South African Trade Unions is fully behind the march by
Oakbay employees to try and engage the country's major four banks on their
decision to cut ties with their employer Oakbay Investments.

This decision by the banks has put the workers livelihoods at risk. We
reiterate our position that workers should not be victims of corporate
conflicts and should not be made to pay for the sins of others.

Hopefully this coupled with the ministerial intervention will convince banks
to change their decision and ensure that workers jobs are safe.

As we approach the International Workers holiday (May Day on the 1st of
May), it is encouraging to see workers standing up and making their voices
heard. COSATU strongly believes that workers are their own liberators and
with unity nothing is impossible.
