ANC Youth League, National Executive Committee, Press Statement, 26 April
2016

Post-NEC Statement

The National Executive Committee held its ordinary N.E.C Meeting from the
21st to the 23rd of April 2016. The National Executive Committee has noted
the progress made in the Economy the South African Economy which has seen a
growth in GDP from 0.80% in 1994 to 1.30% in 2015. The JSE Market
Capitalization is now standing at R 12.9 Trillion in 2015 from R 0.92
Trillion in 1994. The Gross Gold and foreign reserves have risen from
US$3.1Billion to US$45.1 Billion. This good story to tell is however is
meaningless to the majority of our people as economic growth continues to
benefit white monopoly capital. We note that it is only in South Africa
where there was a revolution and the land continues to be in control of the
hands of the minority oppressors. The Third Revolution calls for the return
of land to the people.

The growth in the economy is not equitable to the poor and previously
marginalised. The ANC Youth League hereby calls for the Third Revolution.
The Third revolution is about the pursuit of equality in the economy by
reducing the share of white monopoly capital in the Economy of the country.
All mining rights that must be issued from 2018 onward must only be to
Majority Black Owned Companies. The majority of our raw materials need to
leave the country being processed into semi processed or fully processed
products. The third revolution calls for less trading with the bullies of
the west and more trade with our Eastern counterparts who have always been
friends of the revolution. The third revolution requires for set aside of
majority of government procurement for the benefit of black youth
businesses.

We are clearly aware that the third revolution requires that the movement of
the people be led by Young People. In the quest for implementing the Third
Revolution the Youth League will ensure that the National Executive
Committee that is elected in 2017 has a strong contingent of young people.
This contingent will breathe new life and ideas to the organization. The
third revolution requires that the resolutions of the ANC must be
implemented mainly the establishment of the State Bank. The Youth League
calls for the Nationalisation of the Reserve Bank and take it away from
foreign white monopoly capital. This is more so because it is the people
like Thabo Mbeki who today ride a high horse of morality whilst they did
nothing about the change of the ownership of the economy and yet they today
grand stand as custodians of all that is correct.

The ANC Youth League can no longer be patient with the deployees who fail to
implement the resolutions of the ANC. It is incorrect for Blade Nzimande to
say we cannot afford Free Education. This is mostly so after the revelation
that the Youth of this country is less literate and skilled then their
parents. This is a serious cause for concern for the Youth of this country.
In as much as we encourage the Youth of this country to take charge of their
own personal development but it remains our firm belief that barriers to
education must be limited. The ANCYL is studying the report by STATS SA and
will engage the ANC and Government about the measures to address the issues
identified in the report.

Sports

The ANC Youth League notes that transformation is not only being resisted in
the economic front but even in sports. The ANC Youth League supports the
measures taken by the Sports Minister in forcing sporting codes to
transform. We can no longer speak transformation but transformation must now
be forced. Those who are opposing transformation can make all the noise they
want but the time has come for sporting codes to reflect the demographics of
this country.

Arms deal report welcomed

The ANC Youth League notes and welcomes the report of the arms deal
commissions which was headed by Judge L.W Seriti. This commission puts to
rest the long held view by the ANCYL that there was no corruption with
reference to the purchasing of Arms by government. The Youth League is
disgusted by baseless dismissal of the commission by opposition parties in
South Africa. The baseless and illogical dismissal proves the level of
desperation by the South African opposition who want to have selective
respect for decisions reached at by judges. If the opposition is raising
credibility of judges, it must be a blanket approach that is not selective
to a few. The view should be that it is time that people with so much
responsibility in our country should publicly declare every mid year on
their financial interests and how they make their money inclusive of foreign
accounts they hold.

SASCO congratulated

The ANC Youth League will like to congratulate SASCO on their clean sweep in
the S.R.C Elections in the University of Johannesburg. The South African
Students Congress has once again proved to be a Gigantic Student Movement by
registering a historic victory in the University of Fort Hare defeating the
neo liberal agenda. The ANC Youth League is proud of its decision taken at
its 25th National Congress which is never to contest SASCO in the
institutions of higher learning but to provide support for SASCO. These
historical wins indeed prove that the movement of the people through the
Progressive Youth Alliance is entrenched and continues to lead the Young
people of this country. The win by the progressive forces in Fort Hare
provides space for a proper centenary celebration in that institution.

EFF blood-thirsty hooligans and warlords

The ANC Youth League pledges that it will never allow hooligans and war
lords to bring this country into violence. The ANC Youth League will fight
tirelessly to block any attempts that seek to brew civil war to this country
of peace and democracy. It is amazing that those who yesterday paraded the
constitution and the rule of law are now mobilizing for violence and
senseless killing of people in the country. We are fully aware that the EFF
is heavily funded to run renegade and to bring civil war in this country on
instruction by imperialist business that they visited in London. These
imperialist forces no longer want to pay tax and seek mining rights they
want to bring violence and whilst we fight amongst ourselves they will
continue to loot the resources of this country under the barrel of a gun. We
call on all responsible citizens to distance themselves from the
blood-thirsty hooligans of the EFF.

Defending BRICS

We note that the imperialist forces that attacked Iraq and brought it war
and poverty are now tirelessly fighting BRICS countries. We note that they
are relentless in their quest to continue to be the world's super power and
they will stop at nothing. These are the imperialist forces that killed
Gaddafi because of his attempts to create the United Nations of Africa.
Their agenda is simple to maintain their international standing as the
world's super power. They are hard at work trying to destabilise our
country; they must be exposed and the security services must now act on
these forces as a matter of urgency.

The ANC Youth League amidst all these security threats that our country is
faced with is deeply worried about the foreign ownership of Security
Companies in the Country. These security companies employ more personnel
than the South African Police Services and often more armed than the SAPS.
These majority foreign owned security companies like G4S with offices in
central London are heavily contracted to government and its parastatals. The
government must now shut down these contracts and employ more young people
in the South African Police Services. This will assist in absorbing the same
security personnel which are employed and underpaid by these private
security services.

The ANC Youth League is heavily worried by the appetite of the private
sector especially the hospitality industry to employ foreign internationals.
This undermines our young brothers and sisters who are on the townships and
unemployed whilst the private sector in their greedy crusades employ foreign
nationals in order to run away from the minimum wage that has been put in
place by the government of the people. Whilst it is important to integrate
migrants in society and give the opportunities to make a living. The
employers seem to abuse this to avoid complying with labour laws. The
private sector in South Africa is not patriotic. They do not subscribe to
the development Agenda of the country. The majority white monopoly private
sector institutions trade amongst themselves they do not even have appetite
to grow local black business.

Voter suppression

The ANC Youth League believes that the only true measure of the people's
will is through elections. Elections provide for the masses of the country
to decide who should lead them. Elections provide a platform for the
citizens of the country to choose where the safety of their dreams and
aspirations lay. The ANC Youth League calls on all citizens of this country
to rally behind the ANC as the only politically sound organization with a
clear track record in the improvement of the lives of our people. We are
however worried about the judgment which implies that people whose physical
addresses cannot be verified cannot vote. This is a serious problem that
primarily affects the poor rural dwellers who may be deprived of the right
to vote on the basis of social and economic standing in society.

The ANC Youth League would like to welcome the court judgment that confirms
that Waluz Janusz must rot in jail. Today our forebears celebrate that their
murderers must never be set free.
