Morning Star.png Rousseff to Fight Coup across Brazil The Morning Star, London, 21 May 2016 Suspended Brazilian President Dilma Roussef has vowed to fight back against the anti-democratic legislative coup against her Workers' Party government. In an interview with Russia Today TV broadcast on Thursday, Ms Rousseff said: "I keep fighting not only to remain president, but also - and first and foremost - for the democratic rights in my country." She said she would not be cooped up in her official residence during her six-month suspension but travel the country. "This way I can tell Brazil, and maybe even the entire world, about what's really going on in the country." Ms Rousseff pointed out that every recent Brazilian president had used state bank loans to boost spending in election years - the allegations that led to her impeachment last week. "Our constitution provides for an impeachment, but only if the president commits a crime against the constitution and human rights," she said. "We believe that it's a coup, because no such crime has been committed."
