| I downloaded the 4 iso images, and burned them to CD. Installation took place on my Pismo G3/400 laptop which has a 60 Gb hard-drive partitioned with OS X 10.4, and OS 9.2 with an additional 12 Gb ext3 fs. (Ubuntu is currently on the ext3) Booting the CD brought me to the basic install screen; I hit return for the default install. I then ended up in the text installer, where I was asked for my install language and keyboard type, then which install media; I chose CD ROM drive. I was then informed that there was no driver for the device (original Apple media-bay CD/DVD drive) and would I like to search for one? The select dialog showed only a Firewire driver. I was unable to proceed further on the laptop. Installing to the G3/450 B&W system was a different experience. Despite having an after-market no-name 52x CD-RW, it went straight into the graphical installer, and proceeded through all install steps as I remembered from earlier installations. No problems here! |
