| I spoke too soon regarding the G3/450 B&W; it stalled on a missing package on CD #2. I suspect defective download, which I am trying again.
There seems to be no way to back out of the "Error - missing library" dialog. I had to force-restart. I suggest a work-around to continue installing or skip related components if possible.

Booting the CD brought me to the basic install screen; I hit return for the default install. I then ended up in the text installer, where I was asked for my install language and keyboard type, then which install media; I chose CD ROM drive. I was then informed that there was no driver for the device (original Apple media-bay CD/DVD drive) and would I like to search for one? The select dialog showed only a Firewire driver.
I was unable to proceed further on the laptop.
Installing to the G3/450 B&W system was a different experience. Despite having an after-market no-name 52x CD-RW, it went straight into the graphical installer, and proceeded through all install steps as I remembered from earlier installations. No problems here!
