Hi Tobias,
Quick summary -

There was a post to the list about a message on the ftp server from Andreas.
A quick discussion took place about it where we decided it was obviously a
left over from a long time ago when Andreas went to Novell.
The message on the ftp server was picked up by Distrowatch - possibly from the
posts on this list at a guess.
Again, the general view was that the message was old - and that Andreas
probably posted it when he left for Novell. The only real problem left was
that Distrowatch had posted it on their site, which, reading their site,
seemed to hint at problems within Yoper between the current devs and Andreas.
As we all know, that is total rubbish! Andreas developed Yoper on his own for
years - and, although he now has paid employment with Novell - he still takes
an interest in what is happening with Yoper.

Thats the basic idea - doubtless you will catch up on the rest of the posts
later.
I feel it is all a storm in a teacup - an old message from ages ago on the ftp
server, which Andreas posted when he left to work at Novell - not a rude or
derogatory message, just saying bye to Yoper and suggesting people looked at
Slick and OpenSuSE. The whole thing would have not been a problem until
Distrowatch picked it up.
The fact that the message is now gone seems to indicate that Andreas had
forgotten the message and has now removed it anyway.

As they say on /. all the time -

"nothing to see here, move along please!" :)

Yoper is a close community - which is producing a rocking distro - and there
are always going to be little things like that which will appear. Sometimes
people leave messages in files or on servers which perhaps mean one thing -
but, because of the fact that the internet is not a great medium for
explaining the tone of a message, these things do not always come across
well. With Yoper being multi-cultural and multi-country based, we sometimes
see people missing the point of some messages - particularly those with
humour or sarcasm. Each of us has their own style - some are fairly laid
back, others are more direct - and the laid back messages look like waffle to
the direct people and the direct messages look rather stern to the laid back
peeps :)

I suggest we let the whole issue slide away. Now the message is gone from the
server, lets just forget the whole thing :)

Mark
