Hi, Nadyne. Again, let me apologize about the crack on the developers being 18 years old, and more to the point, that you guys didn't know what you're doing. I know that you are trying hard, and we all appreciate that. Can I see your thesis? I'd love to read it. > There's a surprising degree of overlap in many college student > scenarios and what we at Microsoft refer to as "information worker" > scenarios: working together on large documents, sending lots of emails, > tracking things in Excel, making huge PowerPoint decks. Yup. As to PowerPoint... I think you will recall that my moving files from PP 2004 to PP 2008 created quite a few serious problems for me. The difference, perhaps, between a student's problems with MS Word documents/PP files is that a business person is placing a very high dollar value on the lost time and data. Also, when I am called in to a company to provide expert assistance, and my software fails to perform properly and easily, I look like a dope, and my business reputation is harmed. > Aside from that, I reject the premise that one has to have created a 500+ > page Word document to be a great Word developer (or tester, or program > manager). I'd invite you and your colleagues to see how we struggle with the current version of Win Word 2010 and its Ribbon. I'm thinking that MS perhaps did not see, in your internal testing a focus groups, the problems that we encounter. I was glad to read that there will be conventional menus in Mac Word 2011. I hope there is also a command to "turn off the Ribbon." Thanks/Roger+ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Roger S.
