Test Drive of Outlook for Mac

A guy was showing Outlook on his MBP at a coffee shop and let me take it
for a quick test drive. It was snappy and looked very nice but the first
test
message I tried did not work out as expected.

I tried the basic OS X copy (Command-Control-Shift-4) and paste that I
use all the time in Entourage. The command worked and the picture was
embedded in the Outlook message; however, when when the person
responded to the test (using Apple Mail) he said the picture showed up as
an attachment and was not embedded in the body of the message.

I call the Apple Mail user learned this is nothing nothing new in Outlook
because he indicated pictures or graphics embedded in the the body of
Microsoft
Entourage generated messages also show up as attachments in Apple¹s Mail.
He then sent me a message from Apple Mail with an embedded picture using
the Command-Control-Shift-4 and it showed up in Outlook as an attachment
and I had to use the lame Preview button to view the picture.

I was still in Outlook so I tried to reply using the Picture icon in the
Outlook
ribbon and the option to ³Select from a file² was dimmed so I could not
embed
an OS X Screen shot from the desktop to the body of the message. The only
Outlook option was to attached the Screen shot to the message using the
paper
clip icon. I think the Picture icon option to select from a file only works
for new
Outlook messages and is disabled (or dimmed) for replies.

I am not sure but something tells you can embed pictures and graphics if you
are sending to another Microsoft mail (Entourage or Outlook) user and the
same applies to Apple Mail to other Apple Mail users. I have seen similar
issues
with G-Mail and Yahoo web mail users. They both do weird things to embedded
graphics.

The above exercise ate into the few minutes I had for a quick test drive
of Outlook. Some other items I missed (or could not find) were:

No view of ³Internet Headers² or ³source² that I use from time-to-time from
the Entourage Message menu.

The useful Entourage Message/Redirect a mail message was missing.

The ³Save As² option was dimmed and I could not figure out how to save
an incoming message to the desktop. I clicked on Save and have no idea
where the message it was saved?

I intended to test the new format=flowed (no hard line breaks) but could not
find the icon I use in Entourage to change from HTML to text.

I ran out of time and hope to get another test drive of Office 2011 at one
of the Apple retail sites.
