I guess my question is: What is the future of PackageKit from the yum-updatesd developers' point of view? Is PackageKit going to be the default sooner or later, with everything talking to it? There seems to be quite a bit of duplication of functionality with yum-updatesd but a broader mandate. Is there a plan/intention to move yum-updatesd to be a PackageKit client, or will they remain (presumably friendly) competitors?
