It’s still the best way to rip from CD to hard drive. Indeed much of what’s downloaded from Dime was ripped with EAC from bootleg CD’s. Using LAME mp3 encoder configured with EAC and using the “liquid oxygen” settings is the best way I know of to encode the very best sounding mp3 files from CD too. For lossless compression flac can also be configured to be the external compression encoder. Also EAC can now be downloaded with CDRDAO burning software built in. That should make it more compatible with most drives for burning.

Thanks for the heads up on the MSG Halloween gig. It looks like a good one in spite of the 5 minute gap. The taper setting right in front of the sound board can’t be bad.

Find the software here: http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/

Of course this was *de riguer* a few years back for extracting audio from a
disc to the hd and some versions also had a burner.......not sure to what
extent traders use it now especially now that many can d/l.

And on the topic of d/l the ZPZ Halloween show has just appeared on dime
with an interesting set list although the one set format caught the taper
out and he missed about 5 mins of music.
