thanks
in this case its all https traffic(exchange 2013 and outlook 2013)
but it seems it doesn’t “kill” the existing connections to that “dead” back end
I used this before with kemp that’s how I know it acts differently we had same
issue with them and that’s what we enabled(that solved the issue)
outlook 2007+ should not need restart at all when one cas fails with
connecting to ex 2013 since its stateless(if not using Kerberos authentication)
same for owa(in ex 2013) because of the different architecture it shouldn’t
even disconnect(you hit back end not front end cas like ex 2010)

It will monitor the backends and take unresponsive ones offline.

Of course the MAPI session state will be shot, but it is up to the client to
then reconnect.

The same goes for SMTP, POP3, and IMAP. A reconnect should be required, but
this is up to the client.

Outlook 2010 works great for this, 2007 seems to require a restart to
successfully reconnect (different LB, but this seems to be an application
issue, not an LB issue).

Webmail shouldn’t be affected at all, although you may end up back at the login
screen.

I saw that option but from what I understood(maybe I'm wrong) its just away to
guard the farm it doesn’t handle killing client session on a “dead” backend

Have you looked into the FarmGuardian monitoring? This seems to be what you’re
looking for I think.

Subject: [Zenloadbalancer-support] Exchange 2013 support

Hi there

I just found zen by mistake

what an awesome project

amazing really , im really impressed compared to other production “big
companies” I have tested.

ok, so im testing exchange 2013 and it is supposed to be even easier then 2010
load balancing was

basicly only need source ip persistance

the thing is I tried to use https and importing my cert but it doesn’t work(ssl
bridging) so I said what the heck I don’t really need bridging I can just use
basic tcp 443

and that works fine BUT when one of my cas server is down it doesn’t kill
existing connections to that server and that causes clients to “hang” wait for
the cas server.

to come back.

any chance to have some documentation for exchange 2013 ? or an option to kill
existing tcp /udp connections on back end server failure?

Thanks in advance
