Larry,

I think the problem is that your zTransportPreference is "ssh". It should be "command"

I followed the instruction in the administrator's guide to using SSH to handle data collection and when I go to collect configuration I get:

2006-11-01 14:42:36 INFO zen.ZenModeler loading collector plugins from:/home/zenoss/Products/DataCollector/plugins 2006-11-01 14:42:36 WARNING zen.ZenModeler no cmd plugins found for techrd-lnx.nmrcf.com 2006-11-01 14:42:36 WARNING zen.ZenModeler no snmp plugins found for techrd-lnx.nmrcf.com 2006-11-01 14:42:36 WARNING zen.ZenModeler no portscan plugins found for techrd-lnx.nmrcf.com 2006-11-01 14:42:36 INFO zen.Device collected snmp information for device techrd-lnx.nmrcf.com

and that's it. No new data is reflected on any panel ( Status,OS,Hardware,Software, etc. ) So I'm guessing the "no cmd plugins" is where it is failing? According to the administrator's guide I had to set the following and have:

zCommandUsername: username
zCommandPassword: *********
zSnmpMonitorIgnore: True
zCollectorIgnorePlugins: snmp|portscan
zTransportPreference: ssh

I then saved and then switched to the Manage tab and pressed "collect configuration" to get the aforementioned data.

One other note. There is relatively no elapsed time for the collect configuration output to conclude. It doesn't pause like it is timing out etc.
