thanks for prompt rely. I have
1. created a local copy of the ethernet template
2. Renamed it to my interface name
3. Exported it to filesystem
now how do i import this template under my serial interface???

Copy the ethernet template and rename it the name of your serial
interface type (most likely one has been created that has blank data
sources, graphs, etc).
