Ok, that makes sense so I started working down that road. I dumped the virtual
appliance and dug into fixing the base install.
I went from about 6 daemons that would not start down to one (there was a file
that had to be suid root for zenping, etc... to run). The only one left now
that will not start is Zenhub.
Possibly because of this I have some other issues i.e. the maps will not draw,
zenmigrate fails after loading the "All Heartbeats" report and user preferences
does not work.
I am still working through the problems so I will not bother the group with the
specific errors but, I have the feeling that one of these problems is the key
to the rest. Does this sound possible / probable? Which one?
I would hate to spend all my time working on a problem that, to a more
experienced user, is obviously caused by some core issue.
Here is my plan of attack so far. I will work on what is causing zenmigrate to
fail. It is my hope that this could cause zenhub to fail and that could have
something to do withe the rest.
Let me know if you would suggest something else (up to and including a complete
reinstall...I have backups of the data so maybe that is the best best at this
point.)
BTW I am running Zenoss 2.0.92

Thanks;
James
