it's not a 'real' solution, but when i've run into this situation, i do the
following:
remodel the device
restart zenoss
remodel the device again
i believe also - based on some of the random weirdness that seems to crop up in
various areas of zenoss - that if you shut down zenoss, then delete any {path
to zenoss}/var/*zec files and restart, that can fix an awful lot of these weird
behaviors.
'fix' being a euphemism as well.
