Hi, This months "tip of the month" is about device event suppression. http://blog.zenoss.com/2009/05/27/tip-of-the-month-event-suppression/
It's about suppressing additional events from devices that Zenoss already knows are ping down via a global event transform. Isn't this planned to be Zenoss default behavior? Zenoss already suppresses events created via snmp polling like "Process not running ..." if the devices is not pingable. I've noticed the behavior is different for commands, like nagios plugins. These events do not get suppressed when a device isn't pingable so this transform will resolve this. I'm confused, should I use this transform or will this be made default behavior in upcoming version. Can anyone shed some light on this ?
