The zenoss start script (/usr/local/zenoss/ctlscript.sh on my Ubuntu system)
calls the start script for mysql (/usr/local/zenoss/mysql/scripts/ctl.sh).

The zenoss start script is called from a script in init.d, on my system it's
zenoss-stack
