I think it's okay to bang heads once in a while. Too much politeness can raise sugar levels, not a very good idea in our calorie-conscious times. Besides true politeness I think comes after some understanding has been achieved between people. After the rough and tumble of a robust dialgoue. True politeness follows mutual respect and admiration. Politeness at any other level is FAKE and contrived. To me politeness between strangers is laughable, and funnily we usually become a 'polite society' just on the basis of that. When this fake politeness dominates an introductory meeting nothing worthwhile is said, no ideas exchanged, no minds met, no connections made. Politeness between strangers is like purdah, ridiculous in its aim of protecting the weak from the strong. And strangely even in cyber space politeness becomes a sort of euphemism for protecting those not strong enough to stand up for their convictions.
