The real gift is in the relationship and not in insensate albeit shiny metals and stone. Am i right in thinking so or am i way off the mark. Kindly tell Am smiling :-) Here's the skeleton sketch of the poem: it involves 3 people, a he, a SHE and an I. He is buying some danglers for HER. He is, therefore, 'apologetic' when asking for I's help in choosing the earrings for HER (another woman in his life). I assists him in choosing a pair. I accepts the fact of HER existence.....but the words cool, cold, skim, push, glass... all indicate her distancing from the fact... The He and the I in this poem are hanging out together in the city, 'unbound' to each other, and therefore hanging loosely--- the city danglers. (Dangle: to hang loosely and usually so as to be able to swing freely Danglers = earrings Danglers = people like He and I in the poem) Enjoy a re-read! ;-) Ciao rinku > > rinmad <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Sorry for the re-post > > City Danglers > > Dark, in the burrow of a shop > The silver jewelry glints > He looks at me, apologetic: > "She likes danglers" > > I skim through the designs: > Classic, jazzy, cool > And push across a couple > Over the cold glass counter > > Outside, the air is crisp > The city aglitter > We weave through the crowd > Hand-in-hand, her danglers > Gift-wrapped in his pocket > > Tanu > Delhi > > > > > > -- > You are encouraged to post poetry, respond critically to the poems circulated and participate in discussions.
