This is very true in the developed world. In "developing world", investing
in ECC RAM and MB to go is equivalent to monthly salary of 2-8 local staff.
And many times even more.

As a consultant with significantly higher cost of labour it is still usually
more cost-effective to throw money at work instead of hardware.
