Is there anybody here who knows if or when it'd be available ?
Is it not allowed to have non-global zones on an arbitrary
zpool? Who says so?
I'm curious, because my zone roots are NOT located on
rpool and things *seem* to work fine. Or am I running into
some sort of problem by doing this?
You could read :
http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-5245/installbugs-114?l=fr&a=view&q=zfs
-- Using Solaris Live Upgrade With a Zone Root on a ZFSFile System --
You can install a Solaris 10 10/08 system with a ZFS root file system
and then configure all zone roots on ZFS. The zone roots must be in
the same pool as the global root file system. This configuration can
subsequently be patched and upgraded to run a future Solaris 10 release.
The important sentence is "This configuration can subsequently be
patched and upgraded to run a future Solaris 10 release".
This means : "Another configuration could have issue to be patched or
upgraded".
In other words : if you never apply patchs, everything's fine. If
you'd like to patch, you may need to use some trick (like detaching
zone and re-attaching them on a OS supporting your conf).
So...now we're friend you and me, waiting for a patch. :)
Nico
