Is it not allowed to have non-global zones on an arbitrary zpool? Who says so?
I bet there is more to the question than was originally asked. Yes, you can have
non-global zones in ZFS starting with Solaris 10 10/08. If you also use Live Upgrade *and* you are using ZFS for your root filesystem then the zoneroots must be in the same pool as your root.
