    It's unclear to me what would be the best choice:
    1. move data source API to catalyst module
    2. move data source related rules to SQL core module
    3. define private catalog related APIs in catalyst module and implement 
them in SQL core
    
    Can we delay the discussion when we have a PR to add catalog support after 
the refactor?
