[Corpora-List] 2nd Call for papers for the Workshop on Computational Linguistics on East Asian Languages
/Dear colleagues,/ /I draw your attention to the workshop organized during the HPSG 2022 conference. No link with the HPSG framework is expected./ *A one-day workshop on Computational Linguistics on East Asian Languages* will be held as an online event on 31 July 2022, in conjunction with the 29th International Conference on Head-driven Phrase Structure Grammar (29-30 July 2022). The aim of the workshop is to promote interdisciplinary and cross-language discussion on approaches to linguistic analyses using computational techniques (broadly construed), with a focus on East Asian languages. We strongly encourage researchers from outside the HPSG framework to submit. Possible topics include, but are not limited to syntactic/semantic parsing, cognitive modelling with computational models, development of language resources with annotations beyond the word level (treebanks, propbanks, discourse annotations, etc.), and applications of large-scale corpus data and/or sophisticated machine learning techniques to addressing questions in linguistic theory. *Workshop Format: * The workshop on Computational Linguistics on East Asian languages will take place following the two-day main HPSG 2022 conference. Presentations will be pre-recorded and pre-loaded on the conference website, and the discussion period will be online. *Invited speaker:* Koji Mineshima (Keio University) *Submissions: *We welcome two types of submissions for the workshop: - Long papers (4-page abstract + 1 page data, figures & references; 20 minute pre-recorded presentation + 15 minute online discussion) - Short papers (2-page abstract + 1 page data, figures & references; 10 minute pre-recorded presentation + 10 minute online discussion) Please note that abstracts submitted for the “long paper” track can be accepted as “short papers” (and vice versa) and that the Program Committee may choose to move a paper submitted to the workshop to the main conference (and vice versa), whenever such decisions seem appropriate. Only “long papers” will appear in the proceedings. If you intend to present at the workshop, please choose the option Computational Linguistics Workshop as your Submission Type. All abstracts should be submitted in PDF format via: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=hpsg22 All abstracts will be reviewed anonymously by at least two reviewers. The submissions should not include the authors' names, and authors are asked to avoid self-references. Please direct any questions to the Program Committee Chair: Elodie Winckel (hps...@easychair.org). *Workshop organizer: * Yusuke Kubota (National Institute for Japanese Language and Linguistics) *Important dates:* Abstract submission deadline: March 16th 2022 (anywhere on Earth) Notifications of acceptance: May 2nd 2022 Main Conference: July 29th-30th 2022 Workshop on Computational Linguistics on East Asian Languages : July 31st 2022 *Publication:* A call for contributions to the proceedings will be issued after the conference. Random STOMP Websocket client deconnection from Artemis
Hi ! We encounter random issue with the STOMP WebSocket connection in Artemis : sometimes the clients are disconnected of a channel, due to a ConcurrentModificationException. As the client is not aware that it has been disconnected, it cannot reconnect and it does not received any message any more. This issue is random but happens quite often and make our system very unstable. 1. I logged the issue through a bug (ARTEMIS-3509<https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ARTEMIS-3509>). I do not know if this was the right thing to do. 2. I don't know if someone can have a look on it and check if this can be fixed. Or if a workaround exists. Maybe we do not use Artemis in the good way and we could change something in our configuration or way to use it to avoid this issue. 3. [Educasup] [Parution] E. Djordjevic, S. Tortorella, M. Unger (d ir.), Les Équivoques de l’institution. Normes, individu e t pouvoir, Paris, Classiques Garnier, 2021
Non printing character on toolbar
I’ve just downloaded the latest version of Open Office and found out that I when I click the non-printing character on the toolbar it doesn’t activate. It may be old-fashioned but I like to see exactly where I am when typing or revising a document. How do I get it back? Thanks much.

Hi, Same issue here, it seems there is an issue with libssl 1.1 support. I have no idea how to solve this, but I was able to make it works for me until maintainers find a solution. I rebuilt the wpasupplicant package with libssl1.0 and it works. To do so, I installed libssl1.0-dev on the host I built the package and replace libssl-dev by libssl1.0-dev in the package control file on the source package. Best, -- Elodie

Re: [CF-metadata] New standard names for OMIP: physics
Dear all, I have a request about the "integral heat content" names. The *"**integral_of_sea_water_potential_temperature_wrt_depth_expressed_as_heat_content**"* will be added to the next release, from what I understand. It's very good timing for me as we, at CMEMS, are now processing files describing heat content, from both models and insitu measurements. So I would like to request the addition of the following name, to represent the same quantity, but using insitu temperature rather than potential temperature: *integral_of_sea_water_temperature_wrt_depth_expressed_as_heat_content * /The phrase "integral_wrt_X_of_Y" means int Y dX. The data variable should have an axis for X specifying the limits of the integral as bounds. "wrt" means with respect to. "expressed_as_heat_content" means that this quantity is calculated as the (assumed constant) specific heat capacity times density of sea water multiplied by the integral, over the specified layer of the ocean, of the sea water potential temperature wrt depth. "Content" indicates a quantity per unit area. Depth is the vertical distance below the surface. //Sea water temperature is the in situ temperature of the sea water.// /* *Regards, Elodie On 12/10/2017 13:54, alison.pamm...@stfc.ac.uk wrote: > Dear Jonathan, Stephen and Paul, > > Paul has reminded me that these names are still awaiting completion. [CF-metadata] Standard name for land/sea mask
Dear all, I would like to suggest the addition of a new standard_name to describe land-sea masks. A standard_name already exists: land_binary_mask ( X_binary_mask has 1 where condition X is met, 0 elsewhere. 1 = land, 0 = sea.). But in the ocean modelling community, we have already existing files describing those masks, but from an "ocean point of view", so 1 is for sea and 0 is for land points. So I would like to request the addition of the standard_name "*sea_binary**_mask*", with definition "X_binary_mask has 1 where condition X is met, 0 elsewhere. 1 = sea, 0 = land" and unit "1". Update to Solr 6 - Amazon EC2 high CPU SYS usage
Hello, We have migrated from Solr 5.4.1 to Solr 6.4.0 on Amazon EC2 and we have a high CPU SYS usage and it drastically decreases the Solr performance. The JVM version (java-1.8.0-openjdk-1.8.0.131-0.b11.el6_9.x86_64), the Jetty version (9.3.14) and the OS version (CentOS 6.9) have not changed with the Solr upgrade. Using "strace" command we have found a lot of "clock_gettime" (gettimeofday) calls when Solr is started. The clocksource on Amazon VMs is "xen" and, according to this web site, it impacts the system calls: https://blog.packagecloud.io/eng/2017/03/08/system-calls-are-much-slower-on-ec2/ We have updated the clocksource to "tsc" and it fixes the issue. Is there a change between Solr 5.4.1 and 6.4.0 that would trigger many more gettimeofday calls done by the JVM ? Re: [Migration Solr5 to Solr6] Unwanted deleted files references
We have found a workaround to close the searchers checking the current index version. And now the SolrCore does not have many open searchers. However, we have less unwanted deleted files references but we still have some. We have two collections fr_blue, fr_green with aliases: fr -> fr_blue fr_temp -> fr_green The fr collection receives the queries, the fr_temp collection does not receive the queries. The problem occurs when we are doing the following sequence: 1- swap aliases (create alias fr -> fr_green and fr_temp -> fr_blue for example) 2- reload collection with fr_temp alias (fr_blue for example) We suspect that there is a problem with the reload of a collection that has received traffic so far but doesn't receive anymore since the aliases swap. A problem with the increment / decrement of the searcher perhaps ? I do not know which. Re: [Migration Solr5 to Solr6] Unwanted deleted files references
The request close() method decrements the reference count on the searcher. public abstract class SolrQueryRequestBase implements SolrQueryRequest, Closeable { // The index searcher associated with this request protected RefCounted searcherHolder; public void close() { if(this.searcherHolder != null) { this.searcherHolder.decref(); this.searcherHolder = null; } } } RefCounted keeps track of a reference count on the searcher and closes it when the count hits zero. public abstract class RefCounted { ... public void decref() { if (refcount.decrementAndGet() == 0) { close(); } } } We asume that when we call req.getSearcher() - this increases the reference count, after we are done with the searcher, we have to call close() to call decref() to decrease the reference count. But it does not seem enough or maybe there is a bug in Solr in this case ? Elodie On 03/14/2017 03:02 PM, Shawn Heisey wrote: On 3/14/2017 3:08 AM, Gerald Reinhart wrote: Hi, The custom code we have is something like this : public class MySearchHandlerextends SearchHandler { @Override public void handleRequestBody(SolrQueryRequest req, SolrQueryResponse rsp)throws Exception { SolrIndexSearcher searcher =req.getSearcher(); try{ // Do stuff with the searcher }finally { req.close(); } Despite the fact that we always close the request each time we get a SolrIndexSearcher from the request, the number of SolrIndexSearcher instances is increasing. Each time a new commit is done on the index, a new Searcher is created (this is normal) but the old one remains. Is there something wrong with this custom code ? My understanding of Solr and Lucene internals is rudimentary, but I might know what's happening here. The code closes the request, but never closes the searcher. Searcher objects include a Lucene object that holds onto the index files that pertain to that view of the index. The searcher must be closed. It does look like if you close the searcher and then close the request, that might be enough to fully decrement all the reference counters involved, but I do not know the code well enough to be sure of that. [Freesurfer] Issue with mri_segstats to extract cortical thickness from a volume ROI
Hello FreeSurfer community, I am trying to extract the cortical thickness from a specific ROI. I followed the pipeline: cortical thickness of a volume-defined ROI. But for the last step: mri_segstats \ --seg $SUBJECTS_DIR/fsaverage/surf/lh.fsaverage.ROI5.mgh \ --in lh.thickness.fsaverage.mgh \ --sum segstats-ROI5.txt I encountered an error: ERROR: dimension inconsistency in source data Number of surface vertices = 126983 Number of value vertices = 163842 I tried as suggested in the forum the reshape-factor option as well as the noreshape option for mri_vol2surf and mri_surf2surf. With no success, I obtained a similar error. The ROI is extracted from another acquisition and is registered to the T1. The T1 has been processed by following the classic pipeline using recon-all … -all Any suggestions on how to fix that error or another pipeline that will allow me to get the cortical thickness from inside my ROI? Re: [Migration Solr5 to Solr6] Unwanted deleted files references
Thank you Erick for your answer. The files are deleted even without JVM restart but they are still seen as DELETED by the kernel. We have a custom code and for the migration to Solr 6.4.0 we have added a new code with req.getSearcher() but without "close". We will decrement the reference count on a resource for the Searcher (prevent the Searcher remains open after a commit) and see if it fixes the problem. [Migration Solr5 to Solr6] Unwanted deleted files references
Hello, We have migrated from Solr 5.4.1 to Solr 6.4.0 and the disk usage has increased. We found hundreds of references to deleted index files being held by solr. Before the migration, we had 15-30% of disk space used, after the migration we have 60-90% of disk space used. We are using Solr Cloud with 2 collections. The commands applied on the collections are: - for incremental indexation mode: add, deleteById with commitWithin of 30 minutes - for full indexation mode: add, deleteById, commit - for switch between incremental and full mode: deleteByQuery, createAlias, reload - there is also an autocommit every 15 minutes We have seen the email "Solr leaking references to deleted files" 2016-05-31 which describe the same problem but the mentioned bugs are fixed. We manually tried to force a commit, a reload and an optimize on the collections without effect. Is a problem of configuration (merge / delete policy) or a possible regression in the Solr code ? Re: [CF-metadata] Standard name and area type tables updated
Dear Alison, dear all, Back in September, I suggested the addition of new standard names "geostrophic_eastward_sea_water_velocity" and "geostrophic_northward_sea_water_velocity" (see http://mailman.cgd.ucar.edu/pipermail/cf-metadata/2016/059015.html). There have been quite a few updates of the tables since, but those names are not included yet. Is there anything I could/should do to get them included? In April, there were also discussions on the inclusion of wave standard names. The height parameters have been included in table v35 in July. But the others (mostly period and direction) are still "under discussion" on the "CF proposal page". Any news on that topic? [CF-metadata] New standard_names for ocean biogeochemistry
Dear all, We would like to suggest the addition of two new standard_names for ocean biogeochemistry: - *mass_concentration_of_chlorophyll_a_fluorescence_in_sea_water* unit: kg m-3 definition: Mass concentration means mass per unit volume and is used in the construction mass_concentration_of_X_in_Y, where X is a material constituent of Y. A chemical species denoted by X may be described by a single term such as 'nitrogen' or a phrase such as 'nox_expressed_as_nitrogen'. Chloropyll fluorescence is a proxy for Chlorophyll concentration measuring re-emitted light from light absorption. Chlorophylls are the green pigments found in most plants, algae and cyanobacteria; their presence is essential for photosynthesis to take place. There are several different forms of chlorophyll that occur naturally. All contain a chlorin ring (chemical formula C20H16N4) which gives the green pigment and a side chain whose structure varies. The naturally occurring forms of chlorophyll contain between 35 and 55 carbon atoms.Chlorophyll fluorescence is mainly emitted from the Chlorophyll a pigment. I believe there are no standard_names yet for fluorescence. The definition was built from the mass_concentration_of_chlorophyll_a_in_sea_water definition. - *sea_water_alkalinity_per_unit_mass* unit: mol kg-1 definition: sea_water_alkalinity_per_unit_mass is the total alkalinity (including carbonate, nitrogen, silicate, and borate components). A standard name already exists for alkalinity expressed as mol/m3, |sea_water_alkalinity_expressed_as_mole_equivalent <javascript:void(0)>||,but none exist for mol/kg.| Best regards, Elodie ___ CF-metadata mailing list CF-metadata@cgd.ucar.edu http://mailman.cgd.ucar.edu/mailman/listinfo/cf-metadata
[CF-metadata] New standard name for geostrophic ocean velocities
Dear all, I would like to suggest the addition of two new standard_names to describe geostrophic sea water velocities. Standard_names exist for the surface velocities (|surface_geostrophic_eastward_sea_water_velocity <javascript:void(0)> and surface_geostrophic_northward_sea_water_velocity <javascript:void(0)>), but not for the 3D ones. Based on existing definitions, I suggest: - *geostrophic_eastward_sea_water_velocity* unit m s-1 "A velocity is a vector quantity. "Eastward" indicates a vector component which is positive when directed eastward (negative westward). "Geostrophic" indicates that geostrophic balance is assumed." - *geostrophic_northward_sea_water_velocity* unit m s-1 "A velocity is a vector quantity. "Northward" indicates a vector component which is positive when directed northward (negative southward). "Geostrophic" indicates that geostrophic balance is assumed." | Best regards, Elodie ___ CF-metadata mailing list CF-metadata@cgd.ucar.edu http://mailman.cgd.ucar.edu/mailman/listinfo/cf-metadata

[Freesurfer] Intensity normalization issues leading to improper segmentation
Dear Freesurfer list, Sorry to bother by posting again, but I am bit stuck by this issue and would be really glad to get some help on that issue. Of course I can upload some data if needed. Thanks a lot! Maybe I am hoping for a miracle with my question, but I am bit desperate after unsuccessfully trying things around for over a year. In a nutshell, I need advice on the intensity normalization options. We have T1 data from twins (8-25years) acquired on a 3T MR750 GE scanner with a 32 channel coil (IR-FSPGR 3D volume). This coil has a huge problem in a field inhomogeneity resulting in strong occipital hypersignal and frontal hyposignal, from which I believe all my problems originate. - The standard pipeline provide an incomplete temporal and frontal segmentation (white and pial surfaces do not include enough) while over including in occipital and parietal. - We tried using the watershed 40 value from the skulltrip to get more of the occipital (we had a few subjects having holes in occipital within the brain segmentation). This option changed also the segmentation resulting in better segmentation for temporal and frontal but worse in parietal and occipital. - We tried control points as well, without success (as you can imagine due to the fronto-occipital inhomogeneity). We also tried manually removing extra voxels from the white surface to correct it. But unfortunately, this is not an option because we have about 200 scans to process. - We tried using N4 intensity bias correction on the raw images before feeding it to freesurfer, but the segmentation did not run through for all participants (stuck in fixing topology for more than a week) and for those working, the pial surface did not include enough grey matter. I am now thinking about playing with the option of intensity normalization (mri_ca_normalize) within freesurfer but would like to have your expert opinion on that before roaming. Any advice on how to set up mri_ca_normalize to retrieve a good white matter homogeneity? Or any other functions I should be playing around with? Re: [CF-metadata] Waves
Hi all, Thanks a lot for your feedback. I think Roy's "4-steps" work plan is a great idea to keep things manageable. Thanks Roy! We, Marta and I, agree with your suggestions Roy and Jonathan. So, to summarize, for height parameters, we have: - *sea_surface_wave_significant_height* Wave height is defined as the distance from a wave trough to the following wave crest. Significant wave height is a statistic computed from wave measurements collected during an observation period that approximates to the wave height that would be recorded visually by a human observer during that observation period. - *sea_surface_wave_maximum_height * Wave height is defined as the distance from a wave trough to the following wave crest. The maximum wave height is the greatest trough to crest distance measured during the observation period. - *sea_surface_wave_mean_height * Wave height is defined as the distance from a wave trough to the following wave crest. The average wave height is the average trough to crest distance measured during the observation period. - *sea_surface_wave_mean_height_of_highest_tenth* Wave height is defined as the distance from a wave trough to the following wave crest. The height of the highest tenth is defined as the average of the highest ten per cent of trough to crest distances measured during the observation period. - *sea_surface_wave_maximum_crest_height* The crest is the highest point of a wave. Re: [CF-metadata] Waves
Hi all, Thanks for your feedback Roy. Here are the definitions we suggest for the 7 new parameters. They are the usual definitions in the observations world. - *sea_surface_wave_significant_height* The already existing definition is "Height is the vertical distance above the surface." We believe that this definition defines the "sea_surface_wave_height" part, but not the "significant" part. Could it be possible to revise it to make it more precise? We think that a more precise definition could be :"Height is the vertical distance above the surface. The significant height is defined as the average height of the highest third of observed sea surface waves over a 30 minutes period." - *sea_surface_wave_maximum_height ** *Height is the vertical distance above the surface. The maximum height is defined as the height of the highest sea surface wave observed over a 30 minutes period. * *- *sea_surface_wave_average_height * Height is the vertical distance above the surface. The average height is defined as the average height of the sea surface waves observed over a 30 minutes period. - *sea_surface_wave_height_of_highest_tenth* Height is the vertical distance above the surface. The height of the highest tenth is defined as the average height of the highest tenth of observed sea surface waves over a 30 minutes period. - *sea_surface_wave_height_of_the_highest_crest* The crest is the vertical distance above the mean sea surface to the maximum in a wave. Height of the highest crest is the maximum value of wave crests observed over a 30 minutes period. - *sea_surface_wave_deepest_trough* Trough is the vertical distance below the mean sea surface to the minimum in a wave. The deepest trough is the maximum value of wave troughs observed over a 30 minutes period. - *sea_surface_primary_swell_wave_significant_height* definition of "sea_surface_wave_significant_height" + The primary swell wave is the most energetic swell wave. - *sea_surface_secondary_swell_significant_height* definition of "sea_surface_wave_significant_height" + The secondary swell wave is the second most energetic swell wave. Re: [CF-metadata] Waves
Hello Roy and all, I think you are right Roy, let's look at height variables first to keep things manageable. I'm sorry it took me a little while to reply, I wanted to first discuss things with Marta and wave modellers from Copernicus. We agree that the estimator should be included in a long_name, not in the Standard Name. So the list of names we "need" for height are reduced to: - sea_surface_wave_significant_height -> already exists - *sea_surface_wave_maximum_height ** * - *sea_surface_wave_average_height * We think that for the maximum_wave_height and mean_wave_height, the statistics should be included in the Standard Name and not in the cell_methods, because it is really part of the definition and not something applied afterwards to the physical parameter. Am I making sense? - *sea_surface_wave_height_of_highest_tenth* - *sea_surface_wave_height_of_the_highest_crest* - *sea_surface_wave_deepest_trough* - *sea_surface_primary_swell_wave_significant_height* - *sea_surface_secondary_swell_wave_significant_height* - sea_surface_wind_wave_significant_height -> already exists So we would be down to 7 new Standard Names. [CF-metadata] Waves
;* units A period is an interval of time, or the time-period of an oscillation. The average period highest one tenth waves is defined from zero upcrossing analysis as the average period of the highest one tenth waves. 3.d*"sea_surface_wave_maximum_period"* units A period is an interval of time, or the time-period of an oscillation. The maximum wave period is defined from zero upcrossing analysis as the maximum period of the waves. 3.e*"sea_surface_wave_period_of_highest_wave"* units A period is an interval of time, or the time-period of an oscillation. The period of the highest wave is defined from zero upcrossing analysis as the period of the highest wave. 4. Direction 4.a *"sea_surface_wave_from_mean_direction"* unitdegree from_direction is used in the construction X_from_direction and indicates the direction from which the velocity vector of X is coming. The mean wave direction is the average direction from which waves are coming. 4.b *"sea_surface_wave_from_direction_at_spectral_peak"* unitdegree from_direction" is used in the construction X_from_direction and indicates the direction from which the velocity vector of X is coming. The spectral peak is the most energetic wave in the total wave spectrum. The wave direction at spectral peak is the direction from which waves are coming at the spectral peak. 5. Steepness 5.a *"sea_surface_wave_maximum_steepness"* unitdimensionless The wave steepness is defined as the ratio of the wave height divided by the wavelength. The maximum wave steepness is the maximum value. - Partitions - We also wish to add names for the three "main" variables defining waves for three partitions: the wind wave, the primary swell wave and the secondary swell wave. These three variables are - the spectral significant height (1.b of our proposal sea_surface_wave_spectral_significant_height) - the direction (4.b of our proposal sea_surface_wave_from_direction_at_spectral_peak) - the period (already existing name sea_surface_wave_mean_period_from_variance_spectral_density_first_frequency_moment) So we propose for all three to replace in the name "sea_surface_wave" with "sea_surface_wind_wave", "sea_surface_primary_swell_wave" and "sea_surface_secondary_swell_wave". And we believe the definitions should be the definitions already existing or proposed on this email, with the addition at the end of the definition of the partition itself: "The directional wave spectrum can be separated into several partitions: wind wave contribution (WW), primary swell (SW1) contribution (the most energetic swell) and secondary swell contribution (SW2).", with a bit more detail for the wind wave: "Wind waves are waves on the ocean surface generated by the local wind." For example: *sea_surface_secondary_swell_wave_from_direction * unit degree The directional wave spectrum can be separated into several partitions: wind wave contribution (WW), primary swell (SW1) contribution (the most energetic swell) and secondary swell contribution (SW2). The mean wave direction is the average direction from which waves are coming for the secondary swell wave partition. [CF-metadata] Copernicus Marine Service standard_names
Dear all, This is my first post to the list, so I hope I'm doing things "right". I work at Mercator Ocean, for the European Copernicus Marine Service (http://marine.copernicus.eu/). I am now in charge of making sure that the products we disseminate are CF compliant, and a big part of that task is to ensure that our parameters follow the standard_name table. Most of what we use is already described and available in the table. Thanks for a great job maintaining this table! But some parameters are not yet described. I found these standard_names in the list of proposals. As far as I can tell, it seems to be agreed they should be added to the standard name table, but it hasn't happened yet. Can you tell me more about their status? - divergence_of_surface_downward_stress Proposed by Bruce Hackett on January 2016 - curl_of_surface_downward_stress Proposed by Bruce Hackett on January 2016 - sea_water_potential_temperature_at_sea_floor Proposed by Jonathan Gregory/Stephen Griffies in January 2015 I also would like to suggest the addition of the following standard_name: "mole_concentration_of_zooplankton_expressed_as_nitrogen_in_sea_water". Standard_names already exist for the microzooplankton and the mesozooplankton, but not for the total zooplankton. A name also exists for the total zooplankton expressed as carbon in sea water. I tried building a definition using the already existing ones for micro and meso zooplankton. - mole_concentration_of_zooplankton_expressed_as_nitrogen_in_sea_water unit: mol/m3 definition: Mole concentration means number of moles per unit volume, also called "molarity", and is used in the construction mole_concentration_of_X_in_Y, where X is a material constituent of Y. A chemical species denoted by X may be described by a single term such as 'nitrogen' or a phrase such as 'nox_expressed_as_nitrogen'. The phrase 'expressed_as' is used in the construction A_expressed_as_B, where B is a chemical constituent of A. It means that the quantity indicated by the standard name is calculated in terms of B alone, neglecting all other chemical constituents of A. Standard names also exist for the mole concentration of a number of components that make up the total zooplankton population, such as mesozooplankton, and microzooplankton. I am also working on preparing the next release of the European Copernicus Marine Service that will include waves. We are planning on introducing 35 variables, of which only 7 have already existing standard_names. What do you think is the best way to proceed? Start a new thread on this topic and propose for each variable a standard_name, unit and definition?
[Kernel-packages] [Bug 792318] Re: Strange noise at shutdown, reboot or sleep
Sorry, I thought I had reported months ago that this was no longer an issue for me, but it seems I had not... The last LTS fixed this completely for me. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/792318 Title: Strange noise at shutdown, reboot or sleep Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Binary package hint: linux-image The bug appeared when I tried to upgrade my ubuntu from maverick to natty. My kernel under maverick is 2.6.35, the kernel under natty was 2.6.38. Description of the bug : the computer works perfectly fine, but when I shut it down, there is a loud crack (not a beep) at the very end of the process. It is probably not a speakers cracking, because I have tried it with external speakers, and the sound still came from the computer. It does the same for hibernation or sleep, except that the noise is done twice when put to sleep. The noise appears too with the natty live-cd (when I shut down, it appears just after removing the cd). I think it is a kernel bug, because when I boot on a older kernel (grub still proposes old versions), there is no problem. I tried installing 2.6.39 to see if it helped, but the noise is still there. I am using a HP Pavilion DV6000 laptop (dual boot ubuntu/vista). Re: [AniMov] AniMov Digest, Vol 102, Issue 3
Thanks so much Julia for your reply! I did contact the developpers and will try working with the newer version to see if that fixes the issues! I did find a draft of the manual, which also is a work in progress (attached to this email in case you are interested for your own work!). I also did try adehabitat but was having some issues with it as well. I will do more work on that though as soon as I can! Thanks again for your support! I had no prior experience with rhr. I installed it now for the first time. I tried to input your csv file but rhr did not recognise your date-time. I had to split your timestamp into date and time (two separate fields). I subset a few rows for a quick trial. I selected ONLY minimum convex polygon -wishing to start with something simple! rhr did provide a reasonable report including plot, in an html page, following basic 'reproducible research' practice. It seems rhr is still in development. When it reaches a robust working stage, it will be very nice. However at present it gave me a lot of warning messages, impossible to interpret properly. It would be very difficult to determine which messages might relate to your input and which relate to assumptions behind rhr coding - assumptions that might not be met on your or my system. My suggestion would be to contact the developers of rhr directly, if you continue with this package. And start with a small dataset, doing one analysis at at time. Alternatively, take a deep breath and use command line R (via R studio if you like) and calculate your home ranges using adehabitat - after first reading the helpful user guide. Good luck with your work. I look forward to reading (later on) about your foraging penguins :) Julia Julia Hazel Ph.D. Adjunct Research Fellow School of Earth and Environmental Sciences James Cook University, Townsville QLD 4811 Phone: 0407 431 382 (international +61 407 431 382) Email: julia.ha...@jcu.edu.au From: AniMov [animov-boun...@faunalia.it] on behalf of Elodie Camprasse [ elodie.campra...@gmail.com] Sent: Saturday, 9 August 2014 15:44 To: animov@faunalia.it Subject: [AniMov] Different error messages when trying to use rhr package G?day everyone, I am working with GPS data recorded from foraging penguins. I recently discovered the rhr package, which seems like an amazing tool but unfortunately I cannot get it to work. I have a dataframe that contains one column for longitude and one for latitude, as well as an ID column which gives information about the trip number (I want to calculate home range characteristics trip by trip and then make a comparison) and a POSIXct timestamp in the format d/%m/%Y %H:%M:%S as you can see in the attached file. The rhrGUI() command allowed me to open the GUI in my web browser (Google Chrome) after loading the package rhr. I uploaded the file with ?comma?, ?data comes with header?, ?0?, and ?point? as options for the field separator, header, skip lines and decimal separator options. In order to map the fields, I used ?id?, ?Longitude?, ?Latitude? and ?timestamp?, and ?NA? for he ID, Longitude, Latitude, Date and Time fields respectively. For the date, I used the ?ymd_hms? option. I did not apply any restriction. I then selected ?lon/lat? (but I also tried meters and got the same output with errors), ?4326? (for WGS84), ?28354? (which corresponds to the projected coordinate system of the zone I am working with, ie GDA Zone 54), ?add random noise? for the unit, input spatial reference system, output reference system

[AniMov] Cannot create ltraj object
Folks, I have been encountering a problem when using the adehabitatLT package and specifically the function as.ltraj and I was hoping someone could give me a clue on how to solve the problem! I am working with GPS data. I have got 20 different files with tracks that I have merged together; it looks like I have successfully created a POSIXct column that I added to the dataframe and I have one column with latitude and one with longitude, as well as an ID column that has the ID of my individual birds; however, when I use the as.ltraj function, I get the following error: Error in as.ltraj(xy = data_used[, c(latitude, longitude)], date = data_used$timestamp, : some id's are not present in the data I tried different things (without naming the columns first and with column names, with or without - in the ID numbers, using just the relevant columns with no additional information.) and nothing is fixing the problem. I also do not understand the error message because when I check the length of the relevant columns, there are the same. Turns out, in the meantime I finally realized that my id column for some reasons contained 21 levels instead of 20 (I have 20 individuals) (the problem occurred because one of the level was id, ie the column name, even though I am not sure how that happened...). So I fixed this problem and now my id column is alright (with 20 levels as I wanted); however, now when I run the code again, it comes up with a new error: Error in as.ltraj(xy = data[, c(X.Latitude, X.Longitude)], date = data$timestamp,? :? non unique dates for a given burst. I have looked at the forums and saw that this situation could occur when the date format was not set right (e.g. %y instead of %y) but I carefully checked my format and cannot see any mistake there! Re: [BackupPC-users] fileListReceive failed
Hi, Actually I use the following version of rsync for the server and the ubuntu client: rsync --version rsync version 3.0.9 protocol version 30 My RsyncArgs are : $Conf{RsyncArgs} = [ '--numeric-ids', '--perms', '--owner', '--group', '-D', '--links', '--hard-links', '--times', '--block-size=2048', '--recursive', '--checksum-seed=32761', '--one-file-system', '' ]; $Conf{RsyncRestoreArgs} = [ '--numeric-ids', '--perms', '--owner', '--group', '-D', '--links', '--hard-links', '--times', '--block-size=2048', '--relative', '--ignore-times', '--recursive', '--one-file-system', '--checksum-seed=32761', '' ]; Concerning my in/excludes : I have no folder for the server configuration. For My Ubuntu machine, I have : $Conf{RsyncShareName} = [ 'Documents_win', 'home', 'etc', 'var', 'data' ]; $Conf{BackupFilesExclude} = { 'home' = [ 'echapeaublanc/Dropbox', 'echapeaublanc/.local', 'echapeaublanc/ici-clone', 'echapeaublanc/.gvfs', 'echapeaublanc/.cache' ] }; Extract of my Rsyncd.conf : [Documents_win] path = /media/OS/Users/echapeaublanc/Documents/data_windows/ [home] path = /home/ [etc] path = /etc/ [var] path =/var/ [data] path =/media/DATA/ Yes I added some folders after the first try because I had some access errors.
