Dear Friends,

Thank you for a successful upload phase of the contest!!

This is a call for volunteer Wikimedians who wish to be involved in the
first review of images that were submitted to the global competition - Wiki
Loves Africa in 2024.


The theme for the competition was Africa Creates with a call for images
that depict the creation, manufacture, and/or production of items, objects,
commodities, and products by Africans across the continent. Read more about

to review the guideline and proceed to fill out the form,* you will be
volunteering to participate in the first yes (keep) /no (do not include)
round.*

Volunteer reviewers will be asked to nominate yes (to keep) or no (to not
include) each image in their assigned group.

The first review will take place from the *23 May **- 6 June 2024*. We will
be using the Montage tool and the process will last for about 4hours max.

The deadline to apply for this review group is 2*0th May 2024*.
(Once we have the group in place, we will share more detail with successful
reviewers via email.)

I am excited to share with you the amazing results and statistics of the
2023 Wiki Loves Africa contest. Wiki Loves Africa
 aims to
celebrate the richness, diversity and beauty of Africa by encouraging
participants and contributors to upload their media to Wikimedia Commons
for subsequent use on Wikipedia.


The 2023 iteration of the project, which ran from 1st March to 30th April
with the theme *Climate & Weather*, received an overwhelming response, with
a total

of *13,385* submissions from* 785* uploaders representing *53 African
countries
*.
It's been truly inspiring to witness the continental response to the
concept of climate and weather as it concerns Africa through this
initiative.


Today, we are excited to announce the *winning media entries
*,
which were selected by our esteemed panel of judges. Also, this year, we
introduced a Video jury (first ever in the Wikimedia space) to help us
select the winning uploads for the various video categories.

concours Wiki Loves Africa 2023. Wiki Loves Africa vise à célébrer la
richesse, la diversité et la beauté de l'Afrique en encourageant les

La version 2023 du projet, qui s'est déroulée du 1er mars au 30 avril sur

pays africains. Il a été très stimulant d'assister à la réponse du
continent au concept de climat et de météo en ce qui concerne l'Afrique à
travers cette initiative.

I am excited to share with you the amazing results and statistics of the
2023 Wiki Loves Africa contest. Wiki Loves Africa
 aims to
celebrate the richness, diversity and beauty of Africa by encouraging
participants and contributors to upload their media to Wikimedia Commons
for subsequent use on Wikipedia.


The 2023 iteration of the project, which ran from 1st March to 30th April
with the theme *Climate & Weather*, received an overwhelming response, with
a total

of *13,385* submissions from* 785* uploaders representing *53 African
countries
*.
It's been truly inspiring to witness the continental response to the
concept of climate and weather as it concerns Africa through this
initiative.

have a life beyond the competition, with these images being placed in
articles on Wikipedia, and thus being viewed by over 1 billion times since

[African Wikimedians] Wiki Loves Africa 2023 First Review - Call For Volunteers

Dear Wikimedian,

This is a call for those volunteer Wikimedians who wish to be involved in
the first review of images that were submitted to the global competition -
Wiki Loves Africa in 2023.

The theme for the competition was Climate & Weather with a call for images
that reflect weather and climatic conditions in Africa, as well as the
effect of climate change, events and activities on the continent. Including
inventions and innovations birthed on the continent as a result of peculiar
climate and weather conditions. Read more about the theme here

read the review guideline and proceed to fill out the form, you will be
volunteering to participate in the first yes (keep) /no (do not include)
round.

You can also scan the attached QR code to access the form.

Volunteer reviewers will be asked to nominate yes (to keep) or no (to not
include) each image in their assigned group.

The first review will take place from the *16-25 June 2023*. We will be
using the Montage tool and the process will last for about 4hours max.

The deadline to apply for this review group is *10th June 2023*.
(Once we have the group in place, we will share more detail with successful
reviewers via email.)
