Background image in conversation window, possible?

2009-08-27 Thread Celeras

I've managed to get a background image on my buddylist using the following
code:

pixmap_path ~/
style my-blist {
bg_pixmap[NORMAL] = blistbg.png#
text[NORMAL] = #00
#this makes the text white, if you want black, take this code:#
text[NORMAL] = #00
bg[NORMAL] = #ffbase[NORMAL] = #ff
GtkTreeView::odd_row_color =
GtkTreeView::even_row_color =
}
widget *pidgin_blist_treeview style my-blist

I'd like to do the same thing in for my conversation window. I tryed using
the same code and changing the following:

style my-blist - style my-conv
bg_pixmap[NORMAL] = blistbg.png - bg_pixmap[NORMAL] = convbg.png
widget *pidgin_blist_treeview style my-blist -
widget *pidgin_conv_imhtml style my-conv

Does not work, and I can't figure out why. Am I doing something wrong
(completely different code required, missing something?) or is this just not
possible?

MSN help please

2009-08-27 Thread smorse
I installed Pidgin today and it rocks! Much more simple than trillion. I have
one issue however. My yahoo, aol, google talk all work great. I can use MSN
with some people but I have one friend who is running Windows Live Messanger 14
and I see his name and time stamp appear but I cant see dialog. Oddly enough if
I right click and SELECT ALL when the conversation window turns blue I can see

ICQ Jabber

I upgraded from Pidgin 2.6.1 because our ICQ and Yahoo accounts were not

Download this:

http://pidgin.im/~nosnilmot/2.6.1/srvfix/libpurple.dll

and with Pidgin closed copy it over the existing file in C:\Program
Files\Pidgin.

http://d.pidgin.im/ticket/9956 explains why you need to do this.

That should fix any Jabber/XMPP problems.

I don't know what is wrong with the ICQ issue, can you generate a debug

From this log, it looks like your office might be blocking connections to
Google Talk.

One thing you can try is, in the GTalk account's settings, check both
Require SSL/TLS and Force old (port 5223) SSL, set the Connect server to
talk.google.com, and connect port to 443.

That may or may not work; if it doesn't, you will probably need to contact
your IT department and ask them to unblock GTalk.

If you're on Windows, try downloading and copying the libpurple.dll
(http://pidgin.im/~nosnilmot/2.6.1/srvfix/libpurple.dll) to the pidgin
install directory (probably C:\Program Files\Pidgin).

See http://d.pidgin.im/ticket/9956 for details about this.

If that doesn't help (or you're not on Windows), attach the output of the
Help-Debug Window while trying to connect to your Google Talk account.

Two questions this thread brings up, I don't know if it's open for
discussion or just a question for the mods..

The common 'protocol' is to reply to the group.

But - correct me if I'm wrong - if a person simply looks in the help
file and e-mails support@pidgin.im, they aren't subscribed to the
list. So when someone replies to the list, that person will never see
the reply(ies) - correct? Should this perhaps be modified? Maybe not
allow a person to e-mail support@pidgin.im without - at the very
least, getting an e-mali back telling them they need to subscribe
otherwise they won't see replies?

This would also solve the problem that's come up quite a few times
recently of OMG! I sent my user ID and password to a mailing list!
or What?! This message was confidential!

Second question - can we disable HTML - rather allowing people to
post HTML? There's no reason (IMHO) a 1 line message of I can't
connect to the XMITT server should contain 200 lines of HTML
garbage, a JPG embedded with the company image, etc

Thanks. :)

This, second, URL is wrong. It is the one on their Wiki, but it leads

I did consider posting to the forum pointing out the problem, but one
has to sign ones life away before one is allowed to post, and one
contact address I tried bounced.

In any case, I've never seen any re-directee successfully post to the forum.

Copied to the OP, who almost certainly didn't subscribe to the pidgin list.

makes sense.

I actually have list emails filtered in my account I use for my phone.

question about libpurple

2009-08-27 Thread Christian Nagel

Hello,
i guess that you provide the libpurple under GPL. In this case we
can't use in our produkt goober.com, because that is not open source
software.

could we buy a licence to use your libpurple in goober?

Best regards,
Christian Nagel___

Hi Christian! Thanks for your enquiry. It is not possible for us to
grant you a license under any other license. There have been many
contributors to libpurple over the past 10 years, and it is not
feasible to track them all down and request their permission in using
a different license. (It is also unlikely that everyone would be ok
with a non-GPL license, but this point is moot.)

Thanks,
Mark

Re: Background image in conversation window, possible?

2009-08-27 Thread Celeras

I don't mind if this isn't possible to do with the current program, but if
somebody could just let me know if it is or not that would be fantastic.
I've wasted a lot of time trying to figure this out, not understanding why
the same code doesn't work for both widgets. I've been driving myself nuts.

Please and thank you!
