Hello there,
My older dog, a Chihuahua, has been with me for over 13 years. He is very
old and has been unable to stand up or walk for over a year now. He stays
sitting the whole day. We bring him his food and drink. He does dirty
himself when he needs to do it.
We are happy to continue like
Maybe you could build him a little pair of wheels!? Or look into how much they
cost new used?

Are you home with him during the day or at work? Can you simulate him
with toys, games, etc?
Can you move him with you from room to room, as you move from room to

If it were me, I would ask the vet. If he doesn't walk, he could have some
spinal problems that may have actually caused some paralysis. If he is
paralyzed it could be that he has no pain; but if he just has something
terribly wrong with his spine he could be in a lot of pain. Dogs don't

Hi Raven,
We try as much as we can to move him around, but he is not very comfortable
with that. I think it could be well a spinal problem.
We do take him in a basket and walk and drive around, whenever we can. We do
keep him next to us when we move from room to room. The following are the

Hi Pam
The vets think he has a spinal problem. That explains why he is not in any
pain. However wheels will not help. He can move neither front nor back legs.
Sometimes, rarely, he can move very slowly on his belly.
Hi appetite is so good, which makes me think he is OK.

This such an individual decision. Painful always and always fraught with strong emotions. Is it too soon or am I waiting too long?? Only you and your vet truly know his quality of life. If you are at peace with your decision that this is the best course for him, then I would say the focus would be

Hello,
This is off-topic but thanks for any input. I have never owned cats so do
not know much about them. I am babysitting our son's cats this week.
Their litter box stinks to high heavens. He uses clumping the World's

How often does he change the litter? Yes, I would use fresh litter!! You
have to clean it every day. Pick poop up, a few times a day. How many
cats?
A cat will not use a box if it is dirty. Cats are very clean and want clean
boxes. Where else are they going?

We pour Tidy Cats litter deodorizer in ours. It works nicely. You can also use
baking soda but we've never tried that.

Do you have one box for multiple cats? We always had one box per cat, and
scooped them every day or two. We used clumping litter too, but ours did not
have much of an odor. I can't say anything about the food causing the smell,
but that is always a possibility.

We have two cats and have found that odors from the litter box comes due to
dried urine stuck to the litter box's bottom and sides. It is best to empty
the litter all out of the box once a week and wash out the box with bleach and
rinse very well if a liner is not used. This will kill
