Bug#539186: nolisten switch in /etc/X11/xinit/xserverrc ignored

I found two ways of getting round this: either do ssh before starting X, or start X with the --nolisten switch. The above switch is there in /etc/X11/xinit/xserverrc but it does not seem to have any effect. How is X started? What's /proc/`pidof X`/cmdline? Bug#550792: udev: /dev/disk/by-uuid problem
Please also report the output of: ls -l /lib/udev/rules.d/ /etc/udev/rules.d/ /dev/disk/*/ After being able to see a root filesystem and boot with 146 my system does map correctly my dmraid entries. But this works fine with 141 udev. When my /dev/mapper entry can't be mounted with 146 udev I'm dropped to a maintenance shell. The first attachment is before I have run dmraid -a y from the maintenence shell and the second is when after dmraid -a. I then do a mount -a to mount all partitions and exit the shell to successfully boot. The listing generated there is exactly the same as the second listing. The first results have no by-label and no by-uuid entries. After the dmraid call I then get the single uuid entry being the raid. after a boot (with 146, if you downgraded udev then your system may be broken). My current grub entry uses root=/dev/disk/by-id/entry to boot when having udev 146 installed. After logging on and then dpkg -i udev 141 both the UUID grub entry and the /dev/disk/by-id entries work fine. It's a bit weird as the raid also doesn't start up now. I hadn't noticed the dmraid failure as after doing a manual edit of the grub upon the first failure I installed the old udev package only and updated grub to have the by-id entry also as a boot listing. The system boots without a single problem with the old udev installed. /dev/disk/by-id/: total 0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 9 Oct 14 17:50 ata-ST3200822AS_5LJ0V7P0 - ../../sdc lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 Oct 14 17:50 ata-ST3200822AS_5LJ0V7P0-part1 - ../../sdc1 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 Oct 14 17:50 ata-ST3200822AS_5LJ0V7P0-part2 - ../../sdc2 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 Oct 14 17:50 ata-ST3200822AS_5LJ0V7P0-part3 - ../../sdc3 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 Oct 14 17:50 ata-ST3200822AS_5LJ0V7P0-part5 - ../../sdc5 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 Oct 14 17:50 ata-ST3200822AS_5LJ0V7P0-part6 - ../../sdc6 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 Oct 14 17:50 ata-ST3200822AS_5LJ0V7P0-part7 - ../../sdc7 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 Oct 14 17:50 ata-ST3200822AS_5LJ0V7P0-part8 - ../../sdc8 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 9 Oct 14 17:50 ata-WDC_WD10EACS-00D6B1_WD-WCAU43716050 - ../../sdb lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 9 Oct 14 17:50 ata-WDC_WD10EACS-00D6B1_WD-WCAU43746852 - ../../sda lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 Oct 14 17:50 ata-WDC_WD10EACS-00D6B1_WD-WCAU43746852-part1 - ../../sda1 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 9 Oct 14 17:50 scsi-1ATA_ST3200822AS_5LJ0V7P0 - ../../sdc lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 Oct 14 17:50 scsi-1ATA_ST3200822AS_5LJ0V7P0-part1 - ../../sdc1 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 Oct 14 17:50 scsi-1ATA_ST3200822AS_5LJ0V7P0-part2 - ../../sdc2 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 Oct 14 17:50 scsi-1ATA_ST3200822AS_5LJ0V7P0-part3 - ../../sdc3 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 Oct 14 17:50 scsi-1ATA_ST3200822AS_5LJ0V7P0-part5 - ../../sdc5 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 Oct 14 17:50 scsi-1ATA_ST3200822AS_5LJ0V7P0-part6 - ../../sdc6 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 Oct 14 17:50 scsi-1ATA_ST3200822AS_5LJ0V7P0-part7 - ../../sdc7 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 Oct 14 17:50 scsi-1ATA_ST3200822AS_5LJ0V7P0-part8 - ../../sdc8 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 9 Oct 14 17:50 scsi-1ATA_WDC_WD10EACS-00D6B1_WD-WCAU43716050 - ../../sdb lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 9 Oct 14 17:50 scsi-1ATA_WDC_WD10EACS-00D6B1_WD-WCAU43746852 - ../../sda lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 Oct 14 17:50 scsi-1ATA_WDC_WD10EACS-00D6B1_WD-WCAU43746852-part1 - ../../sda1 /dev/disk/by-path/: total 0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 Oct 14 17:50 pci-:00:0a.0-scsi-0:0:0:0 - ../../scd0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 9 Oct 14 17:50 pci-:00:0a.0-scsi-1:0:0:0 - ../../sdc lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 Oct 14 17:50 pci-:00:0a.0-scsi-1:0:0:0-part1 - ../../sdc1 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 Oct 14 17:50 pci-:00:0a.0-scsi-1:0:0:0-part2 - ../../sdc2 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 Oct 14 17:50 pci-:00:0a.0-scsi-1:0:0:0-part3 - ../../sdc3 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 Oct 14 17:50 pci-:00:0a.0-scsi-1:0:0:0-part5 - ../../sdc5 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 Oct 14 17:50 pci-:00:0a.0-scsi-1:0:0:0-part6 - ../../sdc6 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 Oct 14 17:50 pci-:00:0a.0-scsi-1:0:0:0-part7 - ../../sdc7 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 Oct 14 17:50 pci-:00:0a.0-scsi-1:0:0:0-part8 - ../../sdc8 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 9 Oct 14 17:50 pci-:02:0c.0-scsi-0:0:0:0 - ../../sda lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 Oct 14 17:50 pci-:02:0c.0-scsi-0:0:0:0-part1 - ../../sda1 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 9 Oct 14 17:50 pci-:02:0c.0-scsi-1:0:0:0 - ../../sdb /etc/udev/rules.d/: total 156 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root19 Jul 1 12:46 025_libgphoto2.rules - ../libgphoto2.rules -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1908 Mar 19 2009 11-hplj10xx.rules -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 3586 Apr 1 2009 50-udev.rules -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 495 May 21 09:10 56-hpmud_support.rules -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1543 Apr 1 2009 60-persistent-input.rules -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1582 Apr 1 2009 60-persistent-storage-tape.rules -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4554 Apr 1 2009 60-persistent-storage.rules -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 523 Apr 1 2009
Bug#550843: ldapvi: does not handle EDITOR values with arguments
Hi, Quoting Marcus Better (mar...@better.se): The question rather would be: How would you specify a pathname/filename that has spaces in it? By escaping like the shell perhaps? That is what svn documents in the svnbook, yes. following that approach might raise security related issues with injecting escape sequences, Are you seriously saying that hg, svn and git have security issues because of this? Because they work fine with my setting. I wouldn't see it as a security issue, but it's certainly something that needs to be documented well. (If it's shell, then which shell is it? Does it have to be the user's shell?) A quick google survey turns up some IBM tools which explicitly say that EDITOR must be a full path for them, so presumably they even call execv(3) rather than execvp(3), much less system(3). But if prevailing implementation practice among modern tools is to go through the shell, then I'm sympathetic to that request for the sake of compatibility. Do you have a patch for this? d. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org

Bug#543718: Reproducible for Sid only
Hi there, I have three machines: tony, baba and xaphod. Tony is the client machine, running three gkrellm monitors (one for each machine). Package versions are all 2.2.13-1 (gkrelltop for tony, gkrelltopd for the other two). Tony's version of gkrellm is 2.3.2-4 The segfault occurs reliably whenever I run gkrellm -s xaphod on tony. Yet when I run the identical command gkrellm -s baba on tony, everything works fine. So there is presumably some package causing a problem further down the dependency chain. (Tony and baba are running Squeeze; Xaphod is running Sid.) Very happy to try and analyse this if someone can tell me what to look for. Bug#274747: dependency on dpkg-dev is not required for provides
Aurelien Jarno aurel...@aurel32.net writes: On Mon, Oct 12, 2009 at 01:05:18PM +0200, Guillem Jover wrote: Another option is that all the Provides: part of type-handling is done on dpkg. The current problem with the implementation: - A rebuild of type-handling is needed each time a new architecture is added to dpkg. - Provides do not always work as an alternative. This require for example type-handling to be installed on the build daemons (technically it should be an Essential package for this to work). That's why I am not really for more usage of type-handling, which IMHO should simply disappear. This gets even worse with multiarch. Depending on the dpkg config (what archs to allow, and any multiarch config will break something) the type-handling will break down. Examples: amd64 + i386: amd64 has not-i386 and i386 has not-amd64. It is kind of strange that you are both i386 and not-i386 but that is multiarch for you. amd64 + kfreebsd-amd64: Now you have linux and not-linux. I already saw some nice confusing effects of this with ia32-apt-get and had to blacklist type-handling from the non-native archs. Bug#550942: [gnome] Mouse pointer invisible directly after starting gnome
Package: gnome Version: 1:2.26+2 Severity: normal --- Please enter the report below this line. --- I've reported this bug against the package gnome since I have no idea which of the many packages of gnome is responsible for the problem. So please reassign it to the correct package. When I log in to gnome with my normal user account, the mouse pointer isn't visible directly after logging in. In gdm and during the gnome startup (roughly before the panels are shown) the mouse pointer is visible. Then it disappears automatically. The problem seems to be somehow related to my configuration. It works perfectly when I log in as another user. I don't remember having changed any related configuration entries before. I'd prefer not to loose my whole gnome configuration. So maybe you can point me to where in the configuration the error might be. I've already tried changing the mouse pointer in Appearance in the gnome control center. This didn't solve my problem. After a few minutes (and moving the mouse) the mouse pointer appears again. As a workaround, the mouse pointer usually appears quiet quickly when starting the command Xnest :1 and moving the mouse a lot. --- System information. --- Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux 2.6.30-2-686 Debian Release: squeeze/sid 500 unstable www.debian-multimedia.org 500 unstable ftp.fu-berlin.de 500 testing ftp.fu-berlin.de 500 stable ftp.fu-berlin.de --- Package information. --- Depends (Version) | Installed ===-+-= gnome-desktop-environment (= 1:2.26+2) | 1:2.26+2 gdm-themes | 0.6.2 gnome-themes-extras | 2.22.0-3 gnome-games (= 1:2.26) | 1:2.26.3-1 libpam-gnome-keyring (= 2.26) | 2.26.1-1 gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly (= 0.10.11) | 0.10.12-1+b1 gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg (= 0.10.7) | 0.10.9-1 rhythmbox (= 0.12) | 0.12.5-1+b1 OR banshee (= 1.4) | synaptic (= 0.62) | 0.62.9 system-config-printer (= 1.0.0) | 1.0.0-6 totem-mozilla | 2.28.1-1 swfdec-mozilla | 0.8.2-1 epiphany-extensions | 2.28.0-1 gedit-plugins | 2.28.0-1 evolution-plugins (= 2.26) | 2.28.0-2 evolution-exchange (= 2.26) | 2.28.0-1 OR evolution-mapi (= 0.26) | evolution-webcal (= 2.26) | 2.28.0-1 gnome-app-install | 0.5.60.1 transmission-gtk | 1.75-1 gnome-bluetooth | 2.27.5-1 arj | 3.10.22-7 avahi-daemon | 0.6.25-1 tomboy (= 0.14) | 1.0.0-1 OR gnote | gnome-volume-manager (= 2.24) | 2.24.1-4 gnome-core (= 1:2.26+2) | 1:2.26+2 alacarte (= 0.12) | 0.12.4-1 brasero (= 2.26) | 2.28.0-2 cheese (= 2.26) | 2.28.0.1-1 deskbar-applet (= 2.26) | 2.28.0-1 dmz-cursor-theme | 0.4.1 ekiga (= 3.2) | 3.2.6-1 empathy (= 2.26) | 2.28.0.1-1 epiphany-browser (= 2.26) | 2.28.0-4 OR gnome-www-browser | evince (= 2.26) | 2.26.2-2 evolution (= 2.26) | 2.28.0-2 evolution-data-server (= 2.26) | 2.28.0-2 fast-user-switch-applet (= 2.24) | 2.24.0-3 OR gdm (= 2.26) | 2.20.9-1.1 file-roller (= 2.26) | 2.28.0-1 gcalctool (= 5.26) | 5.28.0-1 gconf-editor (= 2.26) | 2.28.0-1 gdm (= 2.20.9) | 2.20.9-1.1 gnome-backgrounds (= 2.24) | 2.28.0-1 gnome-about (= 2.26) | 2.28.0-1 gnome-keyring (= 2.26) | 2.26.1-1 gnome-media (= 2.26) | 2.26.0-2 gnome-netstatus-applet (= 2.26) | 2.28.0-1 gnome-nettool (= 2.26) | 2.28.0-1 gnome-screensaver (= 2.26) | 2.28.0-1 gnome-system-monitor (= 2.26) | 2.28.0-1 gnome-system-tools (= 2.22.1) | 2.28.0-1 gnome-themes (= 2.26) | 2.28.0-1 gnome-user-guide (= 2.26) | 2.28.0-1 gnome-user-share (= 2.26) | 2.26.0-2+b1 gnome-utils (= 2.26) | 2.26.0-1 gstreamer0.10-alsa (= 0.10.22) | 0.10.25-1 gstreamer0.10-plugins-base (= 0.10.22) | 0.10.25-1 gstreamer0.10-plugins-good (= 0.10.14) | 0.10.16-3 gstreamer0.10-tools (= 0.10.22) | 0.10.25-2 gtk2-engines (= 1:2.18) | 1:2.18.4-1 gucharmap (= 1:2.26) | 1:2.28.0-1 gvfs-backends (= 1.2) | 1.4.0-3 gvfs-bin (= 1.2) | 1.4.0-3 hamster-applet (= 2.26) | 2.28.0-1 seahorse (= 2.26) | 2.26.2-1 seahorse-plugins (= 2.26) | 2.26.2-1 sound-juicer (= 2.26) | 2.28.0-1 swfdec-gnome (= 2.26) | 2.26.0-1 totem (= 2.26) | 2.28.1-1 totem-plugins (= 2.26) | 2.28.1-1 vinagre (= 2.26) | 2.28.0.1-1 OR grdc | 0.6.0-1 vino (= 2.26) | 2.28.0-1 zenity (= 2.26) | 2.28.0-1 libgnome2-perl (= 1.042) | 1.042-2 desktop-base | 5.0.5 type-handling | 0.2.23 gnome-mount (= 0.8) | 0.8-2 OR linux-gnu | policykit-1-gnome | 0.94-1 OR not+linux-gnu | gksu | 2.0.2-2+b1 eog (= 2.26) | 2.28.0-1 gedit (= 2.26) | 2.28.0-1 gnome-applets (= 2.26) | 2.26.3-2 gnome-control-center (= 1:2.26) | 1:2.26.0-1 gnome-icon-theme (= 2.26) | 2.28.0-1 gnome-menus (= 2.26) | 2.28.0-1 gnome-panel (= 2.26) | 2.28.0-1 gnome-power-manager (= 2.24) | 2.24.4-3 gnome-session (= 2.26) | 2.26.2-1 gnome-settings-daemon (= 2.26) | 2.26.1-2 gnome-terminal (= 2.26) | 2.28.0-1 gvfs (= 1.2) | 1.4.0-3 metacity (= 1:2.26) | 1:2.28.0-1 OR compiz-gnome | nautilus (= 2.26) | 2.28.0-2 yelp (= 2.26) | 2.28.0+webkit-1 Recommends (Version) | Installed ===-+-= gnome-games-extra-data (= 2.26) | 2.26.0-1 network-manager-gnome (= 0.7) | 0.7.1-1 gnome-office (=

In fact this EDITOR setting was taken from the Emacs manual, you can find it here under the -a option: Emacs is its own OS so that doesn't really convince me. ;) Besides, it isn't really my call, and if you can come up with a clean patch for it I guess David might consider accepting it. Bug#492366: dlatex - BTS reports 492365/6: XeTex problems for hebrew and greek
Hi Benoît and Martin, regarding the two bug reports about XeTeX problems for hebrew and greek documents (meanwhile more than one year old): My first analysis was font problems to be resolved with the planned XeTeX fontspec encoder. Meanwhile I think that this is misdirecting, sorry: the DejaVu fonts used with XeTeX support hebrew and greek out of the box. With TexLive 2009 that is in the process of being packaged for Debian (at a very early stage [3]) and the included Polyglossia package (the TexLive 2007 version currently included in Debian doesn't contain Polyglossia) I have managed to produce pdfs for the hebrew and the greek test documents after replacing Babel with Polyglossia — I needed to patch the TeX output of dblatex and to run xelatex manually: $ dblatex -d -b xetex -P doc.collab.show=0 -P latex.output.revhistory=0 -P doc.toc.show=0 test-he.dbk $ cd temporary dblatex work dir $ patch test-he.dbk.tex $ xelatex test-he.dbk.tex Attached are the hebrew [4] and greek [5] patch files. Please note that this is a crude hack only meant as a proof of concept: using Polyglossia instead of Babel with the XeTeX backend will support further languages. Bug#545693: ekiga: Receiving a call only can pick up it from keyboard (Control-o), not button available
Hello Javier, Are there two bugs (can't use green button, and can't receive calls) or only one? Please explain better what happens. What does it mean I can't use? Is the green button greyed out? Doesn't pushing it change anything? Do you see the notification window, near the GNOME panels/menu? For not receiving calls: you might be hit by more than 1500 bytes message bug. Please start ekiga on the other end with -d 4 and, when this case appears, send us the -d 4 output (or look yourself the string large inside; if there is one, then it's this bug; to workaround it, remove some unused codecs). Bug#550950: ITP: stx-btree-dev -- b+tree implementation in c++
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist homepage: http://idlebox.net/2007/stx-btree/ License: GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 (LGPL). Summary The STX B+ Tree package is a set of C++ template classes implementing a B+ tree key/data container in main memory. The classes are designed as drop-in replacements of the STL containers set, map, multiset and multimap and follow their interfaces very closely. By packing multiple value pairs into each node of the tree the B+ tree reduces heap fragmentation and utilizes cache-line effects better than the standard red-black binary tree. The tree algorithms are based on the implementation in Cormen, Leiserson and Rivest's Introduction into Algorithms, Jan Jannink's paper and other algorithm resources. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Just wanted to ask for some reasons,.. as I see some ubuntufication of Debian ;) Well, we have to make sure that there are no ubuntufications there. The Debian reasons are that the ubuntu-dev-tools contains some scripts/apps that are useful with sbuild tool (like bootstrapping, lvm images, etc.). It is about those tools and some others[1] that could be a good contribution to debian tools. Bug#550954: ITP: alien-hunter -- Interpolated Variable Order Motifs to identify horizontally acquired DNA
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Andreas Tille til...@rki.de * Package name: alien-hunter Version : 1.7 Upstream Author : George Vernikos * URL : http://www.sanger.ac.uk/Software/analysis/alien_hunter/ * License : GPL Programming Lang: Perl, Java Description : Interpolated Variable Order Motifs to identify horizontally acquired DNA Alien_hunter is an application for the prediction of putative Horizontal Gene Transfer (HGT) events with the implementation of Interpolated Variable Order Motifs (IVOMs). An IVOM approach exploits compositional biases using variable order motif distributions and captures more reliably the local composition of a sequence compared to fixed-order methods. Optionally the predictions can be parsed into a 2-state 2nd order Hidden Markov Model (HMM), in a change-point detection framework, to optimize the localization of the boundaries of the predicted regions. The predictions (embl format) can be automatically loaded into Artemis genome viewer freely available at: http://www.sanger.ac.uk/Software/Artemis/. . The manuscript describing the alien_hunter algorithm is available from Bioinformatics: Interpolated variable order motifs for identification of horizontally acquired DNA: revisiting the Salmonella pathogenicity islands. Bug#550957: wicd: 8bit non-printable characters in network mode string lead to wicd-client failure
Source: wicd Version: 1.5.9-1 Hi, We've run into a bug in wicd leading to the wicd-client failing with a python backtrace, leaving it in an unusable state. As it happens, we are seeing a number of wireless networks in our neighbourhood for which iwlist reports a bogus network mode string containing mostly 8bit non-printable characters. This makes DBus very unhappy when wicd-client queries the server for the AP mode while displaying the network list. Attached is a proposed fix, restraining the possible characters in the network mode string to [A-Za-z-] and dropping the network if the string doesn't match. This should be enough to accomodate all currently-existing network modes. Patch applies to 1.5.9, minor tweak needed after that (regexp options). Thanks, JB. You can achieve this with the following steps create the file /etc/libvirt/qemu/kvm-32 with the following contents #!/bin/bash exec kvm -cpu qemu32,-nx `echo $*` and make it executable. In the same directory you should find the xml file for your virtual machine. In my case it was called windows.xml Inside that file there is a line emulator/usr/bin/kvm/emulator change it to emulator/etc/libvirt/qemu/kvm-32/emulator You will need to restart libvirt-bin /etc/init.d/libvirt-bin restart and then the virtual machine can be started and windows runs fine. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. A pointer is 64 bit, an integer 32 bit. This is bug #314666 revisited. Fix proposed there was mostly incorporated upstream, but not complete. The part not included by upstream was the change of int (and boolean, which seems mapped to int) to long in the above lines, so this problem reappears. I have been playing to build a lenny x86_64 backport (I still use idraw frequently). I successfully built the package with gcc 4.3 in a x86_64 lenny box with attached patch. Instead of changing int and boolean to long in offending lines I changed it to intptr_t (and unsigned int to uintptr_t), from stdint.h. Seems included by default, so no need of explicitly including that header. I expect it to also build properly in a x86_64 sid box, but cannot check now. Since stdint.h is provided by libc6 since some time ago I hope it is available in all currently released arches. intptr_t and uintptr_t are c99 standard types to handle this kind of things. I think they should already be available in all Debian arches. Note that attached patch is only what I used to build the package, so is neither tagged as a NMU nor closes the bug. Not sure about the NMU policy for QA maintained packages, but if you want me to turn that into a real NMU just tell. Bug#550902: bug installing debian 5.03 - perhaps related to grub
Am Mittwoch, den 14.10.2009, 05:40 -0700 schrieb jeffunit: I installed debian 5.03 on my computer, using the dvd image. The install seemed to go fine. It would have been better if you filed a normal installation-report: http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/i386/ch05s04.html.en#problem-report That is clearly a better way to report issues, however I couldn't find that, looking at http://www.debian.org/Bugs/ Yeah it's AFAIK only in the installation-howto. But I close now the report, instead of just reassigning to grub-installer, where this would belong to, because we switched now to GRUB 2 by default. I doubt it has the same problem. You could try out the daily images or wait until alpha 1 gets released and then try again. If it still has problems booting your installed system, then please file a regular installation-report with attaching the compressed syslog of the installer. Even if you can't directly boot your system, you can still get the logs from a usual LiveCD or even debian-installer's rescue mode. I think they're in /var/log/installer/ Ok. Any idea when GRUB 2 will get into the stable release? I would prefer to be running a more thoroughly debugged version of the os. GRUB 2 is packaged in lenny already and in expert you should have got the question to use it. But the lenny version of it isn't yet that stable. Or is your /boot on a SATA fake RAID aka dmraid? Then you can't use grub2 yet. With the daily businesscard you can also install stable/lenny if you use expert mode or boot with priority=medium which doestn't show every question of expert mode. -- Felix Zielcke Proud Debian Maintainer and GNU GRUB developer -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#550911: fusecompress: lzma is not compiled in
Hi Ritesh, Ritesh Raj Sarraf wrote: fusecompress needs version 4.999.9beta of the xz lzma library. The current version of the library in Debian (Experimental) is 4.999.8beta. Are you sure about this? 4.999.9beta+20091002-1 was uploaded to experimental about a week and a half ago, so I think it should have reached you. I would prefer enabling support for lzma once it moves out of beta and is part of unstable. If all goes as planned, it will be a couple of weeks before XZ Utils is part of unstable. This is because of packaging issues rather than the stability of the upstream package. (We cannot provide an xz-lzma conflicting with the current lzma package, since the latter is essential; the fix is to update dpkg to use liblzma so lzma is no longer required.) If it is useful, I can’t see much wrong with enabling support for lzma in fusecompress for experimental, though I’m not sure how much that would help people. Thanks for the note --- it is useful to see how the library might be used. Regards, Jonathan -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Unfortunately there is no better way to match those devices as the GPSr just use a standard ftdi chip and too often don't come with any special product id, ATTRS{product}==FT232R USB UART would match here, too. I know that this is not the best way, but there is no workaround yet. Best for you would be to remove the line from the udev rules for now. There was a discussion on improving the detection by running a gpsd stub which tries to detect the gps so the udev symlinks and hotplug magic would only be triggered if there is really a gps attached, so it might be better in the future. Also running the hotplug wrapper should not make any trouble, gpsd will listen on the port and try to detect a gps, if there is none, it should stop using the port. And would it be possible for you to attach the compressed installer syslog? I'm not sure how to dig it out from the VBox virtual machine disk (the host is Debian Lenny). Bug#390504: variable moved
Hi Thomas, On Mittwoch, 14. Oktober 2009, Thomas Lange wrote: In the next FAI version the variable FAI_CONFIGDIR will be moved to make-fai-nfsroot.conf A sensible default for FAI_CONFIG_SRC is not possible, because the client can't guess where to get the config space from. So this information must be provided by the install server, or a packages that contains the config space. Packages which contain config spaces cannot overwrite configuration files belonging to the fai-client package. So this wont work. But if FAI_CONFIG_SRC would default to a known value, such as /srv/fai/config or /var/lib/fai/config, packages which contain config spaces could provide that directory :-) regards, Holger signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.
