Thank you Funda for acknowledging Harrison’s passing as an influence on WOSonOS
2024. Like some others, I am planning to go because it seemed important to be
there given Harrison’s death.

2024-03-29 Thread Funda Oral via OSList
Dear Friends and Colleagues,

We are looking forward to hosting you in Istanbul where local elections
take place in 2 days.

Yes, come and join our WOSonOS 2024 circle with your students, friends and
family!

We are getting prepared to be able to host a diverse and inclusive group of
participants in the venue (diversity in age, countries, identities,
nationality, profession, and so on). One of the reasons to hold WOSonOS
2024 in Istanbul was that there are less
barriers to access in our city (visa, flights so on).

We recognise the importance of the event and the responsibility that the
passing of Harrison Owen has placed on us.

We are already happy to see participants from various countries getting
registered. There is also some interest from
different groups in Turkey (professionals, activists, students so on)

We will keep you informed about the developments and planning to include
some of you in the preparations.

Have a wonderful week-end,
Funda, Yeşim, Bike

Harrison blows through my days... as do many others of us...

And when you mentioned Mikk I see him at the WOSonOS in 2003 in SwenMark

gathered and tenderly returning it to its habitat...

THE SPACE IS ALWAYS OPEN

At 88, yesterday, March 16, 2024, Harrison Owen has left us, the "initiator" of
the Open Space Technology as he humbly and modestly liked being called. His
legacy is immense and now the world community of practitioners of this fabulous
method of dialogue will be in charge of carrying forward their dreams. My heart
is full of thanks and without a doubt that the path he leaves us is full of
light and hope.

Asunto: [OSList] Re: Loving you...

My first memory of meeting Harrison was at the Leadership in a Self-Organizing
World open space in the mountains east of Seattle, Leavensworth in 2009. His
work had already transformed my life, hopes and aspirations - though I'd only
learned about OST two years earlier. It wasn't long before I was on the board
of the OSI-US, though I was worried about the aphorism, those who love law and
sausages should not see them made. The most profound impact of Harrison's work
has only been in these later years, as I started to understand what Harrison
was trying to tell me about me working too hard, that all the space was already
opened. We just need to notice.

I recall how he spoke enthusiastically, wishing he had decades more time to
work on his intuitions about Grief work that were very present in his books,
especially his last, Wave Rider, which was being promoted at the Leadership in
a Self-Organizing World in 2009. I sat at a table in the cafeteria of
International House in NYC, mostly star struck, hearing him speak about how he
wished he had more time to go in depth on Grief during an Opening Space for
Peace and High Performance in NYC. I sense what he was really doing was
inviting us to take on the project.

For what it's worth, I'm very much sensing that Harrison's work is more
present, and brighter, now that Harrison has left this mortal plane. Some of
his last writings sent to the OSList, like the one just a month before his
passing, After the Rage, were some of his most sharp and poignant pieces. The
love showed and expressed, and was reflected back to him at his last talk from
the most recent Peace & High Performance in January, to me very much confirm
that Harrison is opening more space now, and will continue to do so, than he
could possibly do while his spirit was fixed in time and space.

We love you, Harrison!

Harold

2024-03-18 Thread Steve Cochran via OSList
In 1997 a colleague and fellow leadership coach from the 'Council for Excellence in Government' and I were having lunch at the Glen Echo Inn just outside Washington DC. We were discussing how exciting and successful the previous day's Open Space for 200 federal government leaders had been; our first exposure.A courtly gentleman dressed in black politely approached us and asked if we were referring to Open Space Technology. Of course, it was Harrison, who lived close by. He joined us for the rest of the afternoon and was delighted to learn that the feds had wholeheartedly embraced the experience and were in action toimplement the session outcomes. That experience was the first of probably over 100 OST events for me as a participant and more often as a (so-called!) 'facilitator'. As with all of you in this treasured community OST has been and continues tobe a personal and professional blessing. It always works! How appropriate that my next one (here in Black Mountain NC) has a theme of "Practicing Love". Harrison taught us all how to do that by being and sharing his love. With Much Love and Gratitude to All - Steve CochranOn Mar 18, 2024, at 8:24 AM, 霜山元 via OSList wrote:With deepest sympathy as we remember Harrison Owen.We were fortunate to have the opportunity to welcome Mr. Harrison to Japan and have him teach us directly when Open Space Technology was still unknown in our country. 2024-03-18 Thread Thomas Perret via OSList
For Harrison Owen and his almost invisible and simultaneously splendid life’s
work and gifts that will continue to expand for a long time.

Your deeds impossible not to respect, you walked this earth your own man and a
man of spirit.

Few things have impacted the way I see possibilities in the way Open Space
Technology has. You had a hunch and you tried, to see what happens.

Why do it any other way?

Thank you.

I was facilitating a meeting with Open Space Technology near Berlin on
March 16th, at one point in the venue, in front of the Agenda Board, in the

Thanks Harrison, you always generously and modestly shared your knowledge.
You were always there when I needed some information and support from you.
Thanks for saying that "anybody with a good heart" can do this job.
Open Space Technology didn't only change my life but also clarified where I

To Harrison

Hearing of your passing

Graitude arises

For your life lived

In discovery of the Open Space

and its technology to practise

For the understanding

That when time and space

Is awoken in circle

The spiral of actions

Flow in the harmony of Life

For us humans

Alone and together

To do what is needed

Now

For your generosity in

Exploring

Teaching

Writing

Being

Supporting

So many

So humbly

So clearly

So lightly

Asking a so important question

What if living open space today

Is a practise of here and now

That offers us to live

In freedom, peace and love

For ourselves, each other

And

All on the planet Earth?

To which you are now returning

As your spirit fly into the reality of

 open space and beyond.

Journey well..

With respect, gratitude and love.

Dear precious friends and colleagues,

Last night Barry Owen reached out to me to say that his dad had passed away...

colleagues well for this moment. Staying in touch and connecting, opening and
holding the space.

And that space will always be open, said Barry. "He's still holding the space

2024-03-17 Thread Funda Oral via OSList
Dear Open Space Community,

This weekend i facilitated a meeting with open space and the participants
were very satisfied, productive and had a great time. I told them the story
of Harrison, how he created this method drinking his martini.

I am very sorry for the loss of Harrison. We had invited him to Wosonos
2024 Istanbul. I wanted to believe that he could come.

Thanks Harrison for reminding us that work, joy, love and freedom are
possible with simplicity.

I am grateful and will miss you.
My condolences to his wife, children and to all of you.

Harrison gave us a remarkable gift…complexity in practice.
