Honestly, for most video playback without significant contention for
main memory, that setup is more than adequate, especially if there's a
reasonably large amount of main RAM. I use my laptop as a media center
PC hooked up to my LCD HDTV, and it has 64 MB of pure crap Intel
onboard shared video
I've used Dreamhost for years and never once had a reason to complain at
all. I should also note that the reason I started using Dreamhost years
ago is because a friend of mine ran the website of his dotcom off of
Dreamhost. Anywhere good enough to run a commercial site is good enough
for me.

critical issue that I don't know how to fix! I bought us a new mic to
use on the road...it's a handheld Shure that uses an XLR input. I step
that down to the 1/8 plug on the camera.
The audio sounds beautiful in the can
then thinks these signals represent the two channels of a
stereo sound... which is very much not the case!

capture process and says capture stopped because blank tape was
detected. I've become used to this as a minor glitch that occurs once in

Hi Rhett--
The sensitivity (output) of the SE1 is 10mV/Pa which is the lower-end
of condenser mics but still acceptable. Noise of 17dBA is acceptable.
It seems to want at least 44 volts phantom.
It doesn't sound like you are getting just mixer or camcorder preamp
I haven't used that one, but I do have a Blue Snowball USB mic and I
love it. Cheap, good, and rugged.
