All that said, I've organized poker tournaments at work, bowling outings, social breaks with snacks, pot luck lunches, seasonal off-site blowout parties, and even a 300-person internal conference complete with international travel and off-site dining and activities, door prizes, and live web uplinks for those who couldn't make it in person.
